I was just curious if there was anybody else online who likes the way these cars look as they came out of the factory? Though I dont really like the hockey sticks, that is the way it came out of the factory and it doesnt look bad in my opinion and I dont want a bunch of decals or non-original emblems on my car. Anybody else feel the same way? This isnt a slam against those who do like that stuff, Im just beginning to wonder if there are any other bone stock cars.

The exterior of my 04 DTR is stock. I plan to leave it that way for now. I like the what is it factor. I would rather spend my limited resources on go faster parts. :D

I love the way the car looks. I only dressed up the taillights, added tint and painted the calipers. Other then that, the rest of the mods will be under the hood.

I also like the factory looks my 03 is bone stock. The oil and filter are the only items changed since the car was built. Mercury calls the hockey sticks the flying M.

The factory spoiler was my wifes idea.( she is 64) The Marauder accent letters on the rear bumper is to just differenciate this from a CV, and GM. One elderly gent maybe in his late 70s-80s said he liked my MM. The Pontiac GTO was orriginally a LeMans with the GTO package, and then later called a GTO, but yet they never call it a LeMans. Then why do they call our cars Mercury or CVs. I agree with too much altering, but this is a matter of taste. This why I have the spoiler, SS inserts, and window tint. These are all inexpensive changes that I believe add to the car. My 2cts.

I agree with what you are saying. The car is just fine the way it is.
The previous owner of my car decided he had to have Cobra emblems on the sides of the car, so that's what I'm stuck with unless I want to go to the trouble of removing them.
As for the front and rear emblems, I really don't like the "flying M" and feel that Mercury should have linked this car to the Marauders of the 60s and 70s more and separated the Marauder from the Grand Marquis more.
That's why I'm spending (hopefully) the 200 bucks or so to eliminate the hockey pucks and replace them with the god's head emblems.
After all, we are "Car Guys and Gals", and modifying our cars is a hobby to most.
If you don't want to modify your car, I will respect you and your car as much as some of the folks here that have spent 10s of thousands to change the looks and performance of their cars...after all... it's a Marauder!

I like the stock look a lot. I do intend to eventually have one of the OEM type spoilers put on the car though.

I would prefer a better looking M logo or Even make the Gods Head the logo for the entire line.

Mine is bone stock looking (except for the Trilogy under the hood and the boost guage inside). Have always liked the OEM "sleeper" look for my cars, but that's just my taste. In fact, although I think the MM wheels are really sharp looking, probably would have opted for something plainer if it had been available as an factory/OEM option. That being said, I gotts say that many of the dress-up items I've seen on other MM Net members cars sure look good.:D

I'm done dressing up the out side of my car. I have godsheads front and back, OEM spolier, and the Marty/Mac Retro Badges. I think that just finnishes the car off. I feel the biggest thing they should have done was the Gods head followed by the fender badges. But this is what makes this car great.

Bling mods? Whateryataulkinbout?
:D
My objective is the S55 Concept. That is whet the MM was going to look like until the bean counters got their grubby fingers into it.
I may change from red accents to blue. I'm still undecided...

The only thing changed on my MM is the Godshead badges front/rear, and window tint. I might get the rear wing. Other than that, I've always liked the way the car looked, even when I first saw the "garage" commercial on TV. Subtle, yet very intimidating.

I'm warming up to the rear spoiler that was installed on my MM#2. I was a bit disappointed at first, but as I've gotten used to it, I find it gives my second car a distinctive look. Possibly it might just serve as a differentiation between the two cars, which is helping me to put behind the annoying time I've had with MM#1. Perhaps it might make whatever annoyances MM#2 gives me in the future a little easier to bear, since I'm "starting with a clean sheet", psychologically-speaking. I haven't even worried too much about putting the same 20% tint on my MM#2 as on my MM#1, although I do miss being able to do Gene Simmons impressions with my tongue at cute ladies as I drive by.
I never considered putting the spoiler on my MM#1, simply because I was used to the look without it and liked it. I think if I had the choice, I would have preferred to keep the spoiler-less look for MM#2 but it's no big deal. But that's just me.

Except for the SS Inserts and the trunk liner my '03 MM is stock. :D I briefly thought about the OEM spoiler but decided against it.

I do agree, I only have SS stainless inserts, and factory spoiler. But the
"three old man canes" that are on the front and rear of the car have to go.
Thanks to BigDogg, it will look more like its 60s and 70s relatives!!!

I'm with you on the clean look. We have a factory spoiler, and deleted the front & rear hockey sticks to give it a cleaner look. My wife thinks it looks mean without the frills.

I've tinted the windows, and have caliper paint waiting for spring time to come (as the stock color looks like they're made out of cement).
I keep toying with the idea of the God's Heads and inserts, but never do it... Other than that, I doubt I'd change a thing, to the external looks.

:o I too like the "stock" look. Only have window tint and inserts so far, but I do want to add the oem type spoiler. I think for now I will leave the "hockey sticks" as they are.

I agree that these cars look great stock, but there was a couple things I did that I wanted to make it my car: 15% window tint, Bob White rear decals, Silverstar headlights.
If I had the funds, I would definitely do the God's Head emblems front, rear, and steering wheel, but doesn't look like that is going to happen. And I keep going back and forth, but think at some point I will add the factory rear spoiler. And I have yet to see any kind of wheel setup that looks better than the stock wheels.
This spring when the stock wheels go back on I plan on painting the calipers and maybe adjusting the rear air bags to sit just a tad lower. And would love the Naake Coilovers for an all around slightly lower stance. But as for any other add-ons or other outward appearance mods, the car is great the way it it.

The only thing I dislike about the appearance of my 04 SB MM is the black plastic rocker panel moulding. It's invisible on the Black cars.
The cars looks like it's been lifted about two inches, but only in the center of the car. The silver from the the front bumper and rear bumper is lower than the doors. Yuck. It should line up. The car would look lower too.
If someone here could give me an idea of how to paint them body color, I'd really appreciate it.

"To each his own", said the man who kissed a cow. That is the beauty of it all. I have done a couple of things I haven't liked and removed them. the rest are still there and there is more to come. Good, bad or indifferent I am enjoying the heck out of my involvement with the Mercury Marauder in the garage. I am constantly looking here for ideas and tips and things I might do. This is first car I have ever owned that I wanted to do more than drive the wheels off while looking for something new. I don't want anything new now, just to keep making this one more MINE. And that I think is the power behind the mods. thanks Dennis:D
RIGHT NOW I WANT A FORD MOTOR COMPANY LIMITED PRODUCTION CERTICATE!!!
Who's Marauder is in post #4? (The black one) I purchased mine used about a year and a half ago. Mine has the SS Inserts and the wing, just like the one pictured. I'm still mixed on the wing. I like it with the OEM wing and plain also. I've thought about removing it, but my wife really likes it. If there is anybody out there who wants to exchange truck lids, make it to Albuquerque and you have a deal. I'll just have to deal with the wife, heck she doesn’t drive my car anyway! On a side note, I painted the calipers red. I have received a lot of positive comments on them.
