So this was a Christmas gift (and a pretty nice one, at that):

The Eclipse 5435 has got to be one of the sexiest decks I've seen in a while. Here's a link:

I know I'm going to have to help coax this unit into the Marauder's dash, but not sure what exactly needs to get done. Perhaps someone can walk me through this? :help: It should be pretty much the same for any of the fullsized in dash DVD players...

I realize I need it professionally installed by an Eclipse Authorized Dealer to get the extended warranty through the manufacturer, but I'd like to do as much as I can in prep (cause I'll be watching someone else with my MM, like a hawk).

Nice deck! If it's a true double-din radio, you may have to trim some of the dash bezel to fit the face through the hole. Csutom brackets may also need to be made 'cause I don't think the sleeve will work. Are you running this with aftermarket amps? If so, then hooking up will be easy for your installer. If you're still running stock, I used Scosche connectors to join to the factory wiring without any cutting. Here's a pic of my radio in my car:

Sweet. I have this in my car! You will NOT be unhappy.

Basically, you need to remove the radio, then the Metal Matrix bezels (horizontal trim pieces across the dash), then remove the dash trim piece. The radio goes into the hole, might need some coaxing, creative wire routing in the back.

The dash trim piece (goes around speedo/tach/radio, etc) needs to eb trimmed back, specifically the area which curves into the radio opening. I don't remember how much was taken out, but a little bit at a time would be good, use a dremel and soem blue tape to make straight lines.

You could also go to a reputable shop and have them do it.

I'll PM you the part # for the Metra trim kit you can then modify to clean up the area around the radio afterwards. Here it is 99-5805

The navi on this unit is spot on, the radio kicks pretty good too, and you got to love the touch screen controls!

Cool! I just read through your old post (http://www.mercurymarauder.net/forums/showthread.php?t=20237), and am glad there isn't too much to be done, to make this fit.

I figure with the Metra 99-5805 (dash kit), Metra 70-5521 (wiring kit) and the PAC SWI-X (steering wheel adapter kit), I should be good to go!

Now all I need to do is find a retailer, north of the border (Crutchfield is pricey, and doesn't ship up here)... Hopefully a local place has (can get) all I need ;)

Go to a local Car audio shop that does custom work. They'll be able to get/have everything. There's gotta be a few in the T.O. area. I don't trust places like Best Buy/Future Shop. They're more in it for the easy deck and 2 installs. Ask to see some of their work, pics, owner's cars, etc.

I know it's "just" installing a deck, but when I used to work for my friend's shop here, you wouldn't believe some of the crap I had to fix/rewire because of a hack job done somewhere else.
