After being asked what I was driving and if I were interested in obtaining a high-performance vehicle while visiting an SVT Dealership yesterday.

The Salesman told me one of the downfalls to the MM was they only came in one color. Black. :shake:

The other being cost of the vehicle.

I received a look of disbelief from him after I disagreed with his "fact." :stupid:

The look on that guy’s face after being introduced to a DTR was forever priceless! :D

Left him standing in the parking lot staring at my SS Inserts while listening to the roar of the pipes fading into the horizon. ;)

Mike.

Sale people are idiots, they never check the facts on anything.

Typical. :( That's why FMC only produced approx. 11K Marauders.

There's nothing like the passage of time to make the world's smartest people look like complete idiots.

Did you get the salesman's name?

Kentucky is only about 6 hours from here... I'd love to cruise by in my non-black Marauder too!

(P.S. I had a Mercury salesman tell me they didn't come in blue!)

The car porter drove my MM around to the front. The sales manager leaps from his podium and half-running towards it waving his hands around: "What is that! Do we sell those!? WHAT IS IT!"

So, mostly thanks to the fine folks of the Carolina Marauders and mm.net, I tought the entire sales staff about the Marauder.

" and it is supercharged!" Ford salesman at the Ford dealership last July when I purchased my DTR 04. When questioned he said, "They come from the factory that way. I asked him if he had driven it and he said, "Yes, it is really fast!" We took it for a test drive and yes it was fast. Whe we got back to the dealership the SALESMANAGER got inviolved. He to thought it was supercharged from the factory. When he couldn't find the supercharger under the hood they reduced the price from 27K to 22.5. Funniest dam circus you ever saw. I visited with them recently and took them for another ride..WITH the supercharger. They KNOW the difference now! I know some nice guys and gals who sell cars but most of them don't know much about their products and even less about the competition.
We, of course; believe it is about the cars. Dealers and salespeople know it is about the money. :shake: Dennis

I was told from the Salesman in NJ where I purchased my Marauder the following...

" Black is the ONLY color" :bs: ( Ummm Silver? DTR? Blue?)
"These Cars run 13's in the 1/4 mile stock",:bs: ( 13's, 15's hey whats 2 lousy seconds??)

"This car is fully loaded with every option including, cruise control and all power options" :bs: (Thanks, I recall all that being STANDARD!!)

"This car will out handle a Vette" :bs: (a 86 Vette maybe)

"You can expect to see 27 MPG in the CITY" :bs: (Maybe if the City is 100 square miles with a speed limit of 65)

"This engine has a Factory Supercharger" :bs: (Really?, Well tell the factory to put it back on my engine cause its missing!)

"This car can run over 140 mph stock" :bs: (I guess all cars have to run what the speedometer says according to him)

When I picked up the car, I was told that it had a tank full of regular gas during the test drive and that is should really run with the 93 we just filled it up with.:bs: (I dont recall the engine blowing up during our test drive!)

I Hate :censor: Salesmen!!!

The Gen'l Mgr at the L/M dealership where I bought mine was pretty honest and up-front... told me he didn't actually know a whole lot about the car and really wasn't all that intersted in them anyway. Just wanted to sell the one they had and get back to their core business of selling Grand Marq's and Lincolns to older Florida retirees. He did however, comment that this type of vehicle should have been marketed through the Ford stores.

Along the lines of the dealer S/C babble some of you have desribed, I have one more to add. My next door neighbor (not a car guy) got rid of his aging Suburban and came home one afternoon recently driving a new, full-size, shiny black Chevrolet truck festooned with all sorts of decals and stripes on it that read something like "Orange County Choppers". The truck had large chrome wheels, big tires and a decent looking two tone leather interior, not really my cup-of-tea, but not a bad looking truck all in all. He excitedly told me that it, like the MM, was supercharged. Now he actually had my full attention and since I am not at all familier with this package, I asked him to open the hood for a peek at the powerplant. Well, I'm sure you can guess the rest.... no blower that I could see, just a typical GM V-8. He told me the sales guy told him it was a "Vortec". What could I say(??) Told him it was a real beauty and quiet too; probably wouldn't be plagued by any of the whine noise issues you sometimes hear about blown engines. :shake:

That marketing machine known as Orange County Choppers added a package to the chevy trucks that included, 20" Custom OCC rims, Custom Seats, custom Decals with badging, and a dash plate.
There is a guy riding around my area and he has a OCC Avalanche which he told me set him back $54,500!!!
Id rather pick up a Escalade!

Just because they sell cars doesn't mean they know about them.:D
I had to teach a certain dealership around here (who also sold it)all about it from what i learned here..
