Welcome aboard. Enjoy the site. Is your MM under warranty? If it is not, then....

It is tough. It is like replacing a strut on a front-drive ricer.
The spindle has to be loosened to access it.
The spring has to be compressed off of the shock.

I would leave this to the pros.

The last part is just an opinion.

Royl is right. If you've never done it and don't have the correct tools, you could end up getting badly injured. Some guys on the Focus forum learned this lesson the hard way.
