Hi, This is my first post. I am Bill Lalk from WI. I have a gushing/water rushing type of sound coming from the console area in my 04'. I am(used to be) a mechanic and do not want to take this to a dealer. I have worked on my own equipment all my life. This MM is under warranty, but I would like an idea of the problem before taking it anywhere, if I am unable to repair myself.
I know this noise is not normal. It has gotten progessively more pronounced and longer in duration in the past 6 months. I need to drive this on a long trip in 5 months and am concerned about a possible roadside breakdown. Other than this noise, the cars seems fine in every other aspect. It is stock.
Any help or ideas would be greatly appreciated. I hear there are a lot of great MM techs on this site. Thanks for your time,
BILL

Is this mostly just when you start the car? If so I get this noise
along w/ everyone. Its the Antifreeze lines behind the dash.

No, it does it all the time - warm, cold, and it seems to change, come and go with speed, shifting, etc. Can't seem to make heads or tails of it. Sometimes its so bad I pick up my feet thinking I just drove into a lake.

I have never had this on any other Crown/Marquis I've owned. Are you thinking this is normal on the MM?

Bill,
I have heard this sound before on my Dad's '89 GM.
IIRC, it was air bubbles in the coolant lines making that noise.
Does your temp. run normal?
I believe there is a way to release air from the system but cannot recall the steps.
Try searching for air in the coolant, there are many posts on this.
Welcome to the collective and good luck!

He needs to "burp" the system. The crossover tube in front of the altenator has a round plug on top. Use a 1/4 inch drive ratchet w/ an extention to open it up when the car is cool. Add coolant as necessary.
Check this periodically and fill. Sound like a coolant issue to me.

Thanks fellas. I will look at the coolant tomorrow. How exactly do I go about getting any air out of my cooling system? And it does not ever run hot. I always keep an I on my gauges. I hear you need to watch these MM engines closely.
Thanks again for the help,
BILL
