What do you think or have ran. 255-45-18 or 255-55-18.

This has been discussed frequently before.
Issues include both ABS and traction control potential problems
I haven't heard of anybody on this site that is doing what you are suggesting, anybody out there?

When these tires wear out I'm going to do 255/45/18's everywhere. I hate the rear tires the previous owner put on. But all 4 are brand new so I can't complain to much.

I don't have traction control on my car.

I just bought my third Marauder, and my first with Traction Control. Lacking Traction Control, I wasn't able to answer this question before, but I can now.

First, let me say that a number of times in the past, I have had same size tires on all four corners without any problem from the ABS. The question was more about which size to use. I used the rear size, and another brand of tire in 255/50-18 at all four corners, no problems. But, others here used the front size, and that didn't work well after an hour or so of highway driving, as I recall it.

Now that I have a Marauder with Traction Control, a silver Birch '03 300B, and a winter tire swap as well, I have some news.

That's my new-2-me 3rd Marauder, "#3". No girl names, my Mistress is still in the house. This will be my daily driver, and I'm in Chicago, so, I needed to find a winter tire setup. I did, in rather short order too, from my local L/M dealership. I was able to buy four Lincoln 17" aluminum wheels, and four Michelin Pilot all season radial tires, in 225/60-17. After 29 years of driving cop cars in Chicago's winter months, and without snow tires, I knew these tires will work. But, I didn't know what to expect from the Traction Control.

I figured I could teach myself to shut it off when I start the car, or, just pull the fuse is this old dog won't learn no more. I decided to learn a new habit, because if this Marauder was to be my daily driver, the risk of theft is increased. Yeah, that's it, because the thief wouldn't know to shut off the Traction Control, and eventually (hopefully soon) the Traction Control would disable the car. Ya think?

Well, it's been a few days now and I've been all over the place in my new-2-me '03 Marauder. No ABS alarms (which are transient anyway) and only one Traction Control warning, when I was heading out from a standing start under WOT. So, I may have been spinning these skinny tires, maybe it was speed and rotation, because the alarm didn't hit until 60 MPH.

That's about all I can add right now, hope it helps. To think that I could drop down to 225/60-17 without a glitch (so far) pleases me, but the road test isn't over yet. I'll update y'all in another week.

Just my .02c, gents, carry on...

Good to hear, sir.
I would love to have four tires the same size just so I can rotate them.
(No need for snow tires here in sunny FL!)
Please keep us informed as you slog through the winter.

I would like to have all 4 the same size but I have ABS and T/C to deal with, too. I also have a 4.10 chip that I would like to install, too. I was thinking to install the chip and 4.10s + all 235/50-18s and have the chip redone for 4.30s to compensate. This is just a thought. Or I could get 3.90s and run 235/50-18s all around and leave the 4.10 chip alone. Decisions...

On another note, I have seen 245/55-18s all around and they look good. There is a member, Ultravorx, who installed 255/55-18s all around but they rub in front on sharp turns.

ABS...No alarms, nothing through 80 MPH.

Traction Control...No alarms through 50 MPH, so, I'm good for city driving and when I'll prolly need/want the TC on most. Over 50 MPH, immediate alarm. taking hard turns at any speed invokes an alarm, but it goes away when the car straightens out.

the 225/60-17 must be right on the edge of a threshold, but I'll work with it.

If the car has ABS/ traction cont you can not do it with out turning off the TC and when you do the lights stay on the dash

Well....I take back what I said...I do in-fact have an issue with the ABS on my car. I was on some open freeway that was perfect to play around and get to know the car. Got up to 120 and did a semi firm brake. ABS went NUTS. If I do anything other than lightly push my brakes above 80mph my ABS kicks on.

Joy...

Dennis can this be fixed with a tune?
