Something that came up today with my MM. I have the Aluminum Rear End Cover / Girdle which I got from WES. I had the shop that installed my gears install the cover as well.

The issue is I had leakage... and most of it out the vent tube on the axle tube. The car had to go back in for rear lube change / service (part of the install) at 1,000 miles.

What caused this? The fill hole on the cover (the MM doesn't have a fill hole on the cover.. but rather on the case itself) is too high for this rear end. Meaning.. if you put the aluminum cover on ... make sure you fill the rear end from the factory fill hole in the case... not the cover. Using the hole in the cover will cause an overfill of rear end fluid... and as you might imagine.. some of that stuff wants OUT !

On another note...got my Arizona Registration Renewal for the MM... SLAMMED for $370 for one year ! If it starts to snow here regularly... I'm gonna blow this popcorn stand for someplace that makes some sense !:bigcry:
There are days I HATE this state....

Not sure which girdle you got, but the Ford Racing Performance Parts one has that warning in its instructions.

Joe,

A very subtle instruction.. "factory fill hole" but it is correct. Since I turned the box and gears over to the installer... I don't know if that sheet was in there or not. ( I didn't buy mine from Ford ) In any event... I know what happens if you don't use the factory fill hole..
