Hello, all.

I've been lurking here for a while, and I've come across a Marauder for sale that I'm seriously considering. It's a 2004 DTR with about 30k on the clock.

Given that these are based from the CV/GM platform, are there any issues specific to the Marauder that I should be aware of?

Thanks for the help!

You are looking at the same Marauder I have. My '04 DTR has 23K on it and I haven't had any problems yet.

Things that are typical of all our cars is
1) Front innner tire wear, but there is an alignment spec. fix to that.
2) Rear deck Subwoofer rattle.
3) Some front end squeeks, (hood, shocks, ...

20K on my 04 DTR, only one problem..I can't seem to get enough...I AM THE VENDOR SUPPORTER. These cars, the people that drive them and the vendors that support them make this the most fun I have had out of bed in my life. Welcome aboard. Wear your seat belt and your wallet belt at all times.:burnout:

Than there is the blue smoke on start up from quite a few Marauders.

Thanks for the info so far.

Didn't notice any start up smoke, but did notice about 3 seconds of chain rattle from the cam chains. Is this common? Car has been sitting on the dealer lot for quite a while, so it may have been a week or more since the last startup. Seemed to drive out fine, and had a surprising amount of low end power (I'd always thought of the DOHC as a higher RPM motor).

This would be a daily driver, looking to replace the Expy that I inherited when we bought the wife a Lincoln LS (great car, but I'm 6'3, 275 lbs - I don't get in it, I wear it!). Fuel burn rate may become an issue, but it's gotta be better than the 14 I'm getting now!

Had a few really cool cars during the past several years ('86 GN, 90 Mark VII, 2002 Lightning), and hoped the MM would scratch that itch again.:D

It will Itch, but you have to scratch.

My '04 never smokes. I think it was an issue with earlier ones. The chains do make a lot of noise. There are like 5 of them in there.

I think a lot of folks are using synthetic oil. Not me. I see at as being the way this engine sounds. I could change my mind though.

I am very pleased with all aspects of the '04. Hell, my dealer is ordering me a new subwoofer and letting me install it myself. I need to get in there and button up all those loose wires I heard of...

I recomend the car. You can even fit 8 beers in the arm rest...

Firstly - Welcome:beer:

Secondly - These are some of the last real cars on the planet and certainly the best for the buck! Although there will be a few dissenters, they are built with some quality in mind. Enjoy and "Welcome to the Machine".

Jim,
in Dalton, near the GA/TN line.

Still working over the seller. He hasn't quite come around to my way of thinking yet, but there's always a chance....

Bubba, get the car, its the right color, the right year and the right ride. Immediately supercharge it, put in 4.10's, sway bars, kooks or Cobra exhaust and BIG brakes and everything else goes away. Oh, other than the other 100 things you still will want to do.:D Do it here, its a rush. dennis:beer:

One BIG problem with the DTR....:D

Only 980 of 'em made.

Buy it and take care of it. Not too many of us around. :)

Got a call from the seller this afternoon. We've come an agreement on price (which means he came down to what I was willing to pay). Pending a clean OASIS report and nothing major on the thorough check tomorrow it should be mine by the weekend.

Now if I can just keep that crazy little speed monkey off my shoulder for a while.....

:D

You can't pass up a Marauder.
It is a one of a kind vehicle.
There is NO WHERE on the planet where you can get
this much ROOM, and this much fun on four wheels.
