A Marauder that is, color, year miles etc.

Well I got a 2003 300a w/ 6,500 mi back in Sep. 22, 04' (Black)

I was an inch away from a brand new MM 04' but got the 03 for 5K

less (23,300 compared to 27,500) If I had to do it all over again

I think I would have got the Silver 04' Don't get me wrong,I love the black

all waxed but its a pain to keep clean and the paint quality is not the best

from the factory. And the tick is not my friend either, so whats your story?

Would you change anything if ya had to do it all over again?

I Bought my Certified 03 300a back in March of 05 with 25k miles. Exactly 2 weeks after I brought it home, the dealership called me and told me they just got in a fully loaded 04 Marauder in black with 16k miles and they wanted to know if I had any friends that would be interested in it.
Well I turned the car on to my co-worker after I took him for a ride in mine, and he quickly bought the 04 which turned out to be in perfect condition with a sunroof, 6 CD changer and a dealer installed remote start.
If I could go back, I would have waited the 2 weeks and bought the 04.

DITTO....I love my Black (300A) '03, bought it brand new with 6 miles on the odometer...BUT I've spent ALOT of $$$ to have a fast N/A Marauder.
I would definitely have gone with a S/C as my first mod, then done all my current upgrades as I wore stuff out or broke it.

If I had it to do over again?....

I would NOT have bought the 1968 Torino that I bought back in Sept. 2000---off the internet---to retire the '93 LX 5.0 Mustang that I had as a driver, from driver duty. THAT WAY, I wouldn't have been 5k upside down when I bought the 2001 V-6 model Mustang in Apr. '01. THAT WAY, I wouldn't have been 8k upside down when I went to buy the Marauder in Feb. '03.

In short, I wouldn't have made so many bad choices leading up to the purchase of the Black Hulk, and I wouldn't be staring down the barrel of another 39 payments still to go. Get it? THAT WAY, I could be spending money on mods now....but I gotta set aside a bucketload of money every month for the payments.

I wasn't always so smart....me and my automotive follies....:shake:

Black

No offence, black Marauders are what you see everywhere. I like em, alot. My ole Cobra was black. I had that car polished so well that it glisend (sp?). Yeah, I really like the black MMs

But I have no regrets. I am very happy with what I have, and like the ease of maintenance with the silver car.

I bought silver because at first, the MM was going to live outside. The Cobra is history and the MM resides comfortably in the garage.

There is something about the Black on these cars that makes it seem... bad - but in a good way.

If I would have have found a new SB Marauder, I would have bought it. I couldn't find one new so I ended up with the Sport. Heck, I probably would have swooped up a used one as well. They weren't to be found at that time. I found several black ones used but didn't want one as a daily driver in Florida. Besides being a pain to keep clean, they are unbearably hot in the summer. Down here, that's from March to November by northern standards! Believe me, I ache everytime I hear that sweet 32valve music coming from those trumpets . . .

Well, hindsight is a wonderful thing, and for me, it was just dumb luck, finding a leftover '04 at a terrific price, just when I needed a large sedan. However, decontented or not, knowing what we do now, waiting for an '04 would have been a wise choice, because mechanically, the '04 is a better car. Let the flames begin, but I heard it myself, from Steve Babcock.

I got just what I wanted. 2004 SB with 17K, spoiler and tint already done by the previous owner, along with Cobra badges on the side (probably wouldn't have done those, but they are growing on me) Cost in November 05 was 21k. Probably put another grand in mods so far. The problem is, I want another one to play with!:D (The next one will be Black)

Hehehe...I AM doing it over again, and I'll be adding my second mod today, ventshades. My first mod was a set of winter tires. Don't know if I'll add any more mods for performance, I like #3 the way it sits now. Appearance mods? Who knows...We'll see in the spring.

I bought a used 2004 color black. I love it but wish that I had waited until i found a silver one. Mine is a daily driver year round and it kills me to see it dirty, especially in the winter when there are few chances to wash it.

I would have bought a 05 gto since i dont need a 4 door. You get 100 more hp for the same price. But now i have a s/c and in the hole now. Live and learn, every year something better comes out.

Sad to say, but I would not get the Marauder. I bought mine way back in June of 2002, and have had many issues with it. I would have kept my Impala SS, and got the new Charger this year. It looks like I will be getting it this spring or summer though.

No real regrets, but I would probably have just waited for the red instead of buying a black '03 and trading it on a red '04 18 months later if I had a do over.

I just wish I had discovered Marauders when they first became available. Would have stepped into one when I totalled my 97 CV instead of getting a newer CV.

Me either !!! As much as the Black MM got me interested ... it was the Blue MM that made me commit. :D No regrets at all and I am still as happy with it as I was on day 1. :)

I bought my 04 DTR after driving a 04 black MM. My only regret is I should have shopped the net before buying. I probably could have saved some coin with a few phone calls and a little travel. Other than that I have not looked back...

The only thing I would change is that I wish I would have bought my MM sooner:burnout:

Picked my DTR up brand new at a huge savings in August of 2004. Loved the color and the fact it was a late build with all the options and all but a few bugs worked out.

When these were introduced in 2002 I absolutely fell in love with them and wanted one so bad, but no way could I afford it. I rememer telling my Brother about them and he went out and bought one. Pissed me off, but oh well, he had the coin.

Got a new job in June of '04, needed a reliable car, drove everything available from all manufacturers in the 30K range and the Marauder was the one to beat. Nothing came close so the search was on. Almost bought a black '04, but didn't like the salesman. A month later I see a DTR and SB side by side at the best dealer in Buffalo. Drove 'em both and liked the way the DTR "felt" so I bought it. (still didn't like the salesman, he was dumb) (got me a free car cover, free wheel locks and a free touch-up kit 'cause he told me there was no tax on the rebates, but there is....so I got free stuff)

No regrets at all. Love the car and especially the uniqueness of the DTR - Loaded...

Hey, Thanks for asking !

When i bought my 04 MM they had the black and silver side by side. I love the black but if I had to do again it would be the silver. The black is just a pain to keep clean.

:bandit: :hijack: Sorry i don't really mean too...BUT....
Everyone keeps mentioning how hard it is to keep the Black clean...
I understand...mine's Black...
I ran a tread early on and made the choice to use "Zanio" polish, etc.
I just ran through two days of ran here in Memphis....I figured I'd better wash it this morning before going out...I really hate dirty cars...
Turned on lights in my Garage..."Daylight" bright Flourescents...Car looks just fine....no dirty water streaks....
Now don't get me wrong the car is not clean, but it's just fine for today...
the dirty water just seems to wash itself right off....
the finish is really slippery....:awe:
Anyway...just wanted to mention it, because it really amazes me...
Oh, and no I don't work for "Zanio"...(wish I did)

I bought my 300A used (6500 miles) at what I thought was a big discount. I should've checked what the new ones were going for at that time. I would've definitely bought a new one instead, perhaps tried to find a blue one. I did not save very much at all.

Still, I am very glad to have this car!

When I'm home, my Black MM gets a weekly run through a 'touchless' carwash on the regular cycle, with an extra cycle wash once a month.

Looks real good with very little effort if I take the time to dry it off with a chamois skin right away.

I plan on paying to have it detailed once a year.

Regards,

David

I would not change a thing. I have no regrets on what I got rid of to get this far. Surely, I would like a GTO, but that is on my list for something else later in life for have fun with. In fact, I'll buy and sell a few cars here and there to make my beast fly.

Wow, I enjoyed reading the storys. From not changing

a thing, too not even buying a Marauder . Someone mentioned

the 2004 were a better car mechanicly and I do agree. Bought

the car w/ 6,500 mi and had nothing but problems the 1st 10,000mi

Alternator to tick etc. 18,200 mi and she is ok, I don't think the

Marauder is perfect, other wise there would be no vendors, or even

replys to this thread. But over all, I think these cars hit all the right

spots....

You can add me to the "No regrets" column.

When I first heard about the Marauders all being black, my '95 SHO was still screaming, and I loved it's 5-speed.

But I was dumbfounded when I saw a Blue Marauder at the Pittsburgh auto show in Feb 2003. I thought the car was drop dead beautiful, and I couldn't believe what a bad job Mercury did of not spreading the word on more color choices being available... black is a love/hate thing!

When the SHO put in for an early retirement it didn't take long to figure out exactly what I wanted... adding a moon roof and Lidio's tune have been great, and I can't imagine how much more fun it will be with a bit of boost.

Great thread... thanks for starting it.

I bought my 04 dtr in sept 03 after i heard they droped the blue and added dtr for the 04 model year i was dieing to see what dtr looked like.. so i went to the dealer and they had three marauders out front all 04s a black, dtr, and a silver birch all next to eachother and all were dirty it rained the night before. i,m not much of a black car person [ no offense] but when the marauder first came out in 03 only in black i loved the car but not the high maintance of black so i bought a 03 silver birch explorer sport. a few months after i had the explorer they added two colors blue and silver i was pissed.so i said to myself.. self wait till 04s come out and see if any changes.. lets not get in to that right now all of us who know these cars know what i mean.. so i,m looking at the dtr and silver birch back and forth and the silver is not showing the dirt as much as the dtr its cloudy outside and then a peak of sun came out and hit the front bumper of the dtr and wow the red came to life the metallic sparkled and i was hooked on the dtr and brought it home.. and found out its high maintance also. so sometimes i wish i bought the silver birch. but if could do it all over again... I WOULD HAVE SUPERCHARGED FIRST!!! insted of eight grand of bling....

If I had to do it all over again then I would have been rich enough to buy one in every color. :D I love black MMs but there is just something about the blue ones. Maybe one day I can own one of them, once I pay off the black beast.

I also would have wanted to get one new and not allow myself to debate over s/cing or not.
