I'm in the market for a new "racing" helmet (not Motorcycle).
Any suggestions?
(Besides Hotrauder's new one:D )
Thanks, Jim

In posts this past fall Mac recommended Summit and Jegs as suppliers who only sell approved helmets. sounds good to me so I am looking there. Dennis:D

Just make sure it's SNELL 2005 compliant and you should be good to go.

Simpson makes a good helmet for drag racing. If you want to spend some serious coin you can buy a formula helmet by Shoei. They are only $1000 to $2500!! I would go with the Simpson.

Walmart has pretty nice street bike helmets that are perfect and certified. I think they are Bell for about $75.00.

they don't say snail...or at least the ones in texas didn't. This is if his intentions are for auto-X or something like that where they require it to say snail 95 or greater. I didn't even remember seeing helmets in MD or VA wal-marts.

That's right, SVTOA requires snell 95 or higher.

If you really want to spend dough, they have carbon fiber helmets out there. :D They are light!!!

I have a Sparco made for sedan racing. The eye ports are larger than normal helmets to allow for a larger viewable area. I used Saferacer.com. They were good about exchanges. I got a large and found out it was a little tight. Made a phone call and just returned it for an extra large. Gotta watch for the shape of the helmet. The Sparco tapers at the bottom of the helmet, making it very snug. It also makes it harder to put on and take off.

I know they are D.O.T. aprroved, not sure about snell. They have several models to choose from. It's a Super Wal-Mart next to my house in AZ.
