Under manual shifting from 1st to 2nd will bark the tires. This amazes me because I'm in HORRIBLE Utah high alt air that slows cars down. I have big ass 285's too!! I can't even get a power brake burnout or more than a churp leaving the hole with the TQ all stalled up.
Why exactly does the car shift harder for a manual shift rather than just letting it shift itself?

Mine will squeal the tires on hard launch and bark in the 1 to 2 upshift without manual shifting. Of course, I've got the 4.10:1 gears in back and narrow tires.
If memory serves you haven't added gears yet, right? Getting rid of the stock tranny program is also probably a big help.

Mine started "barking" on the 1-2 shift under WOT after adding Reinhart's xcal2 tune. It firms up the shifts some, takes the sluggishness out of the shifts and corrects most of the other transmission shifting wierdness. Also will squeal nicely from dead stop if the weather is cool and dry. I have KDW2 255/55s on the rear. Other than tires and tune, the only other mod is that I am currently running without mufflers.

What ^^ said. Except I have Lidio's tune and 4.10 gears.

My MM did it when I had to get back on the highway after getting pulled over. MY car is stock with just a K&N drop in filter. I also did this with 2 stock 300a MMs with less than 10k on the clock each.

Mine started when I put the JLT intake and the tune.

I find it stupid that we have the option to "Manually" shift the transmission but when you shift it still takes 2 seconds to shift at WOT.

I felt tiptronic was Ok on my 6 but now it just feels pointless unless I wanna hear the intake.

I'm sorry to say that manual shifting at WOT is not good on teh tranny, and the 285 wide tires make it worse. The "bark" you get is from the tranny stalling while RPMs climb, and you're slamming 2nd gear hard at that point. You can improve auto shuft schedules with ture, as it has been stated, and IMHO, that's prolly a better idea 'cause you can get a tune that deals with altitude better, which is improvements all around.
BTW, what brand of tire are you using. I find Pirellis high on the smoke side, and low on the squeal, moreso when the ground is on the cooler side.

Im glad im not the only one that noticed this!
I almost lost a race due manually shifting and hitting the rev limiter before the tranny decided to shift!.
Since I had the Car, Manually shifting would get a solid Chirp out of the tires where auto pilot wouldnt.
After a tune and 4.10's, I can actually feel the rear kick out a little with a 2nd gear auto shift.
Our old Ford plant quality engineer "Brian" once stated that the PCM was calibrated to do a more sporty shift on the 1-2 if it was in manual gear select mode. I used to get 1-2 manual shifting chirps but that all went away after my first "upgraded" tune from the factory to fix some of the early driveability concerns with catch code BMD0.
