Claybar should do the trick.

Yes this is a good idea. Did the same thing when I had blue flames

painted under my molding. There was clear coat overspray all over the

wheels. Used the Mother clay bar kit, and it did the trick.

As long as it hasn't set-up too much (i.e. weeks, months, years, etc.), in the past I've used Liquid Glass (http://www.liquidglass.com/lgpolish.htm).

*Available at (say) CarQuest.

MM wheels are clear-coated.
If it's color paint, you can use laquer thinner. (Don't freak, I've done it)
If it's clear overspray, you have to use a clay bar.
Laquer thinner does not 'melt' clear cuz it's 2-part cured. Color is 1-part in most cases and can be removed with a solvent.
Good luck.

I use 0000 Steel Wool on all of the Chrome on my Bike. Perhaps this could work?

I used thinner on my wheels with no problems whatsoever.

Then you probably wouldn't want to Steel Wool them!

I've also used Mequire's Step 1 (Body Scrub) to get overspray off.
