Try putting your car in Neutral, then slowly slide the shifter into Drive. Just before it goes in you'll hear a slight Hiss of air.
Does everyone hear this or is it just my car?
And if its normal, What is it????
EDIT: If you slide from Drive into Neutral you can hear it much louder.

Sounds like the auto parking brake release. When you go from park to drive it releases the parking brake. I know I don't have it on my '04, but maybe it's on your '03???

The IAC will open more when shifting into gear so the extra air flow is what you may be hearing. Try unplugging it and then slip it into gear if noise goes away. Of course you will have to plug it back in when your done experimenting.

Try setting your brake and see if it auto releases. You could have a loose hose or a faulty actuator at the pedal. I don't know where the vacuum switch would be. The column shift cars were on the lower column under the dash. Your car's may be in the console. It is a 300a. I could snap a pic of my wife's Grand Ma' but I don't know if they're the same. The 300b's and '04's don't have that feature

The auto barake release works great, You can only hear it if you slowly slide the shifter. I doubt there is anything leaking, I was just curious if anyone else noticed this?

yep thats it for the 03's. 1st time I heard it I had radio off to hear the real music and next thing I knew my shifter has BOV noises. I then later read the how to for the brake mod for you 300b guys and plugged 1 and 1 together and now I sit at the 10 min lights in neutral and parking brake on to keep the revs and volt meter up when all accesories are in use. For the record I only get rearended in turning lanes with foot on brake, functional chmsl, and tails.

Just for reference, here is where the parking brake vacuum auto release switch is: It is mounted on the right (pass) side of the shifter (white thing in pic)

If you have the radio off, climate control off, everything silent, and shift verrrrrry slowly from n to drive you can just barely hear it hiss, this is normal.
