View Full Version : Fastest 1/4 mile on Stock Powertrain???

I know a lot of folks that go fast have changed the T/C, gears or have drag radials when they run. I am interested in knowing what are some of the fastest times achieved in this fashion:

Stock torque converter.
Stock rear end gears.
Stock wheels.
Street radials.

Any kind of power adder is fine, no limit there. My interest is in knowing what is the limit of the stock powertrain, stock wheels and street radials in planting the power to the ground. If you can include your 60' time that would be great. Thanks to all that respond.

PS: If you had a good time in the past that fits the criteria, please post info even if your car no longer fits the criteria.

I know Dave drove the Trilogy #1 car with just a stock blower setup and 410's to a 12.4 time in October of 04' at Lapeer Dragway.

That is a great time, I assume on stock wheels and tires, still looking for a pure Bonestock power train.:D

Explanation: What I mean by powertrain is T/C, gears, wheels, street radials.

EDIT: nevermind, looking for power adders.

Stock torque converter
Stock rear end gears
Stock wheels
Stock tires
Stock exhaust
Stock transmission
Stock engine internals

My car has the stock Trilogy set-up and a K&N.

And, since I'm already up here on my soapbox...:soap:
Both headlamps in.
No chip flipping.
No race gas.
No "icing the car down"
No folding in of the mirrors.
No custom dyno tune.
No nitrous oxide.
35 lbs. of air in all 4 OEM KDWS tires.
Air suspension on.
3/4 tank of Amoco Ultimate.

12.97 seconds at 106.13 MPH and a 60' time of 1.925:burnout:

I know is early, but I believe this is right on the edge of what is possible to plant to the ground with stock powertrain and tires, regardless of how much power your engine can generate......of course someone may prove me wrong.:D

I meant to say Dave drove the number 1 car on stock tires with just a blower and 410's to a 12.4 time.

The run is outside the criteria (gears) but I am extremely impressed with the a 12.4 on street tires, do you happen to know what the 60' time was?

Javier, you might want to ask what the temperature was during the times as well. It makes a huge difference in engine power capabilities and traction, in particular with us here in Florida. Just for comparison purposes.

I am not sure. I'm sure Dave has that info. I do know it was about 35-40 degrees that day. I was there and froze my azz off.

Yes, temperature does affect 1/4 miles times a lot, the reason I didn't ask is because I am trying to get an idea what is the best possible on street tires without changing t/c and gears.

Just trying to get an idea what is the best 60' and E/T possible; under the criteria I submitted so far Tallboy fares best.:D

I hope one day I have the opportunitty to run my car in low temps. Not likely to happen, went to the beach today, it was 83 degrees.

The fatbastid ran a 14.79 at Mason-Dixon in October 2004. I am pretty sure that his car was "bone stock" at the time. He walked away with the trophy & cash in the pure street category. :D His numbers are in the Timeslips database ... whereever that is.

Great point, Tom! When I finally got my 12.97 it was 70 degrees outside!

Imagine what I could've done with colder air!!:burnout:

The fastest "BONESTOCK COMPLETE CAR" that I am aware of was TTA around 14.5 something. I may have the wording wrong, I thought powertrain meant what connects the engine to the rear wheels.:dunno: :D

We need our northern brothers to force a cold front down here for February 4th. The only time I actually like colder weather is at the track. Haven't been lucky yet.

Well, you send us 83 degrees in February and I'll be happy to ship you all the below zero air you want...

Would love to work it out. But I am only looking for 50-60 degrees in a swap. Sorry. And no snow either.:D

I have a '03 300A/B--a non-decontented B--showroom stock with a Dennis Reinhart "chip flash"--not a chip replacement--at the time I madethe run it had about 20,000 mi on it--here are the stats from the original time sheet:
60'---------2.306
1/8--------9.685
1/4-------14.806
MPH-------96.84
Temp---------81
Elev.--------400'
:burnout:
I'm sure there are faster times--but I'm proud of this one:banana2: Maury

I couldn't put a guarantee on the snow anyway. Very strange winter here this year, no real snow for a month now and above normal temps. Skiers, snowmobilers, and ice fisherman are all bummed out...

If I am not mistaken, the fatbastid's car was "as it came off the showroom floor" or "right out of the box".....

I went to the strip back in Nov. 2005.

Have early 300A with mods in following order, everything else is stock:
Dennis Reinhart Tune
K&N replacement OEM air filter, 33-2272.
Replaced mufflers with straight pipes.

No other mods, ran 14.5 something. Temp was in the 50's.

Oh, does a proper front end alignment and 50lbs of stereo equipment in trunk count as a mod? :)

Sorry about the delay in posting, takes a while to go through 218 timeslips.

At Atlanta, SSHS5, around 1130am, can't recall temp.
60' 2.222 (I've done better, lots of times, poor tires)
330' 6.182
1/8 9.373@ 78.35 (again, I've done better)
1000' 12.063
1/4 14.337 @ 98.68 ( I think I've done better mph, I'll check later)

At Dothan Dragway, 2weeks prior, cooler temps (low 50's) race prep on track.

6o' 2.181 (still not the best)
330' 6.059
1/8 9.195 @ 79.48

That should translate into a 14.0x at 100ish.
Stock gears, tranny, converter, driveshaft, and bad tires. If my expense check hits the bank this weekend, I'm headed for Steele. I'll get you some more times, with better tires now.
