View Full Version : What have I gotten into here?

Alright I need to say something. If I don't I'm just gona keep wondering whats going on.

#1. Why in the hell are people so pissy about a top 1/4 mile page? Numbers are numbers folks. If your pissed off about it thats your damn fault, go make your car faster. Don't get all mad because you lost on the internet. If thats not the issue #2 might touch it.

#2. I hate to make this comment but....considering the average age of this board based on that age poll I'm personally shocked at how childish a few people have acted. I've done just about everything but make a PHONECALL to people to confirm things. A member said "Some people dont use PM's" Guess what bud, your the ONLY one, and you can always click on my little name and hit "e-mail" if you wanted to e-mail me. Not rocket science. Our local mustang board has no were NEAR the drama I've seen here so far. Thats a horrible fact since 3/4 of the people on that board are street racers and in their 20's!! With that being said.....

I'm not specificly putting down anyone on this board just making an observation. Except a special someone reguarding the PM's. Thanks for getting my thread locked btw. :fire:

These boards are to create friendships, archive commonly asked questions with reliable/correct answers for future reference, put local people in touch through car shows and meetings, form an on-line comunity thats tight and supportive of one another!!!!!!

From what I'm picking up here there are some inner battles going on. I was taught a long time ago, if you don't have anything nice to say don't say it at all, just beat their ass on the track. But then of course give some people a keyboard and all of a sudden that respect dosn't apply anymore.

Done with my rant. :soap:btw to the people that have sent me supportive PM's thank you. You have showed me there is some light on this board.

I'll attempt to keep things updated on the Top HP thread.

Holy *****!!! I just read that thread and I agree. CHILDISH!!!! People always tell us young guys to "respect our elders", and this is what we get to respect? These are cars, guys, not religion, politics, ect. These are our hobbies in which we compete for our own personl happiness. Its too bad that we get a few self righteous crybabies that get their feelbads hurt whenever anyone challenges them, which I may add is all in fun in the first place. I cannot believe that something as simple as a Supercharger question/thread ends up being a controversy. Im sorry, Matt, that you have to experience grown ups in diapers crying over MATERIAL POSSESIONS that really dont mean anything but our own satisfaction.

Matt, Thank you for your efforts in trying to be a team player and motivator. Its people like you that will keep this board strong. Too bad we cant "vote kick" the bad apples.

I couldn't agree more Matt. It just seems like some folks are hell bent on starting something all the time through "off handed" comments and innuendos. Its sad really. There is simply no reason not to be able to have a track times thread.

I appreciated your efforts, as I said in my PM to you. Don't let the few spoil sports get to you.

Javier, if you are reading this, you will now see why I never bothered putting my timeslip in the original 1/4 mile timeslip database (I believe you asked me about this once a long long time ago, if I'm mistaken then sorry for the confusion).

[Y]ou will now see why I never bothered putting my timeslip in the original 1/4 mile timeslip database.

/Steve: My thought here is that the database, with slips attached, will avoid any bashing because the drag strip is the ultimate measure of straight line performance. I think dyno sheets help too, although we certainly can find a way to get into flame wars regarding the veracity of those.

For these reasons, among others, I would love to see the database brought back and for slips to be attached to it.

Hi Guys,
Hope this thread is not representative of where MM.net now stands! I have been involved with some personal things thta comsume most of my time, but continue to check in periodically. I hope for everyone's sake that this thread is just an occasional 'blip' in the quantum of time. I left another national board assoc. with a bowtie product just because of constant flame wars, etc. I would hope the members here would just 'live and let live' without a lot of bickering and personal insults/barbs.
Up to this point, this is been the MOST well-behaved crowd I have ever encountered on the NET. Pls help keep it civilized!!!
Thanks,
GordonB

This place is cool for the casual poster, then there are the guys that sit and analyze everything as if someone said it in their own living room. I'm not saying I am not guilty of the same thing sometimes, but I notice it, and that's the first step to recovery.

Can someone pat my back? :bigcry:

What have I gotten into here? Good question. I view it as a somewhat dysfunctional family. Everybody here is basically good folks. Some just have personality conflicts. Most would go to bat for even the ones they can't stand (like most brothers: I had 4 so I know all about that). Hardest part is figuring out when to tip-toe around issues (and just keep my mouth/keyboard shut), when to try to make peace, and when to speak my piece. Glad I'm not a moderator...

Back to the main subject matter, I think what you're trying to do is great and wish you well. Hope it prods the webmaster (Logan, don't ban me I'm on my 4th martini and ain't got good sense no more) to get the automatic timeslips page working.

Nitrous, please take me out of your list, thank you.

Y'all making up ***** again, trying to make second and third agendas out of my posts. WTF is wrong with you people?

Y'all a bunch of old ladies yacking over the back fence, and one is a moderator!

Can I get "fair and unbiased" treatment from a moderator who characterizes my post as "bull*****"? No.

If you want to be a posting member, Dave, be a posting member. If you want to moderate, moderate. But you can't do both at the same time, it's just not fair to any of us.

I've lost all respect for all of you.

If so you need to re-evaluate your assesment in the first post.

Mat, don't let the small snippet of life on the MM net you've seen, so far, prejudice you into thinking you know us. We've been through family deaths, birth of children and grandchildren, weddings, divorces, moves, new jobs, retirements, heart attacks, cancer, attacks by crab monsters and Bradford pear trees, along with three national conventions. All of this, plus hundreds of thousands of posts, some of 'em like "My last post" was a mirror of the Seinfeld show and went on for 2,000 + posts about exactly, ...nothing.

What I'm saying is, this is a large and very diverse group of of folks from different ethnic, cultural, and regional backgrounds; as well as age differences from 13yr olds to old farts like me, ...and older. We say and hear things differently, many times meaning the same thing.

Now that you've taken the trouble to join in, hang out a while, and get to know the family, or move on, it's your call.

I for one, hope you'll stay, just give it a chance.:)

Family Deaths: 2 last year.

No kids, not for a long time.

Weddings: yes, Married for almost 2 years now.

Divorces: I hope not. It will be violent, she'll murder me.

Moves: I'm a Realtor, I did 82 last year.

New Jobs: I've had a few, Worked as a bagger at a supermarket (3 months) worked at ford (3 months), Worked at a tire shop (6 months) then AOL(2 years), now Realtor (4 years)

Retirement: I plan on it at 60.

Heart Attacks: None yet. YET is the keyword. My grandpa was taken by one.

Cancer: My best friend died of it a year ago.

Attacks: Several; 2 racoons, and various dogs while showing homes. Meanest was a pomeranian most intimidating was a 150lb dobermen. No crabs though, I was smart in my dating years.

No clue what a bradford tree is.

I'd like to be apart of future conventions work permiting of course.

Yes I plan on hanging around. I'm an extremely open person. If you have an opinion share it. But if you have something to say reguarding a definate then have some numbers to back it up. If you have a problem with me, thats awesome, keep it out of the forums and let me know what I can do to make things better.

Now ya know a little bit more about me. Hope it helps. :)

And no I don't really wear my wife's panties, that was a joke. I hope at least one person smiled/chuckled.
