I hear many things about the Amsoil oil filters in a few days I will start to use the Amsoil 5w-30 engine oil in fact I already buy 6 QT of these but I'm thinking in change the oil filter i've been using Motorcraft FL-820 but I hear many good things about the Amsoil oil filter. Now consulting with the pros here ¿ WHICH ONE OF THESE ARE BETTER ? but for now I will buy the FL-820 due that it's time to oil change, Thanks for your time to read.

stryker, I agree with Mr. Nitrous SSC ^^^

AMSOIL filters are very high quality, but are a bit pricey and usually available only by mail-order. Motorcraft filters are generally acknowledged to be the best value for money, and more easily obtained. Use either one with complete confidence.

Ive heard that Amsoil oil (filters) are generally better only when a car is broken in. Such as 20k miles or more. Friend of mine swears by Amsoil but only after a car engine is broken in.

That's not true. There is no time or mileage restriction against using one brand of filter over another...he may have been thinking of the old wives tale about not using synthetic oil in a brand new motor, but that hasn't been true for 25 years, either.

I strictly use Motorcraft oil filters, and chenge every 3,000 miles (or less if I'm particularly hard on it). Perhaps if I were to be lazy about oil changes, Amsoil may be better... At my frequent change interval, I don't think it would be worth the money.

I'm tired of tha same 3000 milles of change the oil/filter I but the Amsoil due to the long time to change it and same want to do with the oil filter. There is no reason to change Motorcraft filters at 3,000 miles. Any decent oil and filter combo will last at least 5,000 miles. Use better oil and 7,500 miles is well within range. I wouldn't go much more than that with ANY filter without getting the oil analysed, and that includes AMSOIL.

I am currently 6,000 miles into a 10,000 mile OCI in my Taurus, using the previous version of Pennzoil Synthetic and a Motorcraft filter. I'll let you know how it turns out.

I believe there was a thread a while back that had a link to a very detailed review of filters...
The Motorcraft was the best all around value/vs/performance as I recall.

I agree with you, in principle. For a normal driver, that would probably work. When I drive my Marauder, I drive it HARD. My gas pedal might as well have been an On / Off switch :burnout: Given my drving style, I'm much more inclined to change fluids much more frequently than suggested averages. Oil, coolant, trans. fluid, rear gear oil intervals are all reduced.

BTW - Motorcraft filter, and Mobil 1 every time.

What about when using the mobil ep oil?

What about when using the mobil ep oil? What about it...?

Mobil claims the new EP oils are good for 15,000 miles. That may indeed be true, but I'm not inclined to take their word for it. If you want to try it, I would strongly recommend doing a UOA at 7,500- 10,000 miles the first time.

If you're asking about which filter to use with a 15,000-mile OCI, the Motorcraft is still a good candidate, provided you change it half-way through. Since changing the filter is the hardest and messiest part of the job, why not just run "classic" Mobil 1 and change it and the filter every 10,000 miles.

WIX/NAPA Gold, and Mobil 1 filters are also excellent, but they cost 3x what the MoCraft filter does, and I STILL wouldn't run them to 15,000 miles. Even AMSOIL recommends changing their filters at 12,500 miles if you run their fabled 25,000-mile OCI. Good luck with THAT...

Oil and filter every 5K miles....Easy to remember and cannot hurt a thing!!:bows:

I am using Mobil I and could probably extend to 10K mile interval but for less than $30.00 per oil change......why risk it??

FWIW I have read that the Mobil 1 oil filter has the highest burst rating and also that the filter media is superior to any other.
