I got my MM at Valdosta L/M on 11 Sep 02. Looking for reasonably priced chip kit, badgeless grille, and any other ideas that will increase my h/p & performance without incurring the national debt.

All ideas appreciated!!

Chip, Plugs, Thermo from Dennis Reinhardt(Supporting Vendor). Gears can also be purchased from same source, or any SVT Ford Dealer.

Yeah, my first investment was Chip, plugs, and stat. About $425 shipped to your door. These mods are explained on this site, so you should be able to do them yourself in an afternoon, and enjoy by the evening cruz. If you weren't planning on the cruz....YOU WILL!!!

Chip, Denso plugs, 180° thermostat, and underdrive pulleys, all from Reinhart Automotive (www.reinhartautomotive.com) are the first order of business, and relatively inexpensive. Next come the 4.10 gears, MMX driveshaft, and higher-stall torque converter, also from Dennis, but at a higher "national debt" factor once you include labour.

I doubt that a badgeless Marauder-style grille is available--I am just going to black out my front badge and remove the rear badge (since I think it conflicts visually with the factory spoiler I'm about to install).

By the way, is the black honeycomb grille (e.g., Mustang grilles) standard issue on CVPIs? (I just noticed one on a local cop car--looked nice). Or was that just a particular model year of the CrownVic/CVPI that had the honeycomb grille? Any info posted here would be appreciated.

The new 03 CV Interceptors have the Honeycomb plus the 4.6 SOHC produces 260 HP but still short of the Mard.

Actually they started using the honey comb grille on Police Interceptors a few years back.

The 4.6 SOHC in the Police Interceptor puts out 239 HP for 2003.
I saw the 260 HP printed somewhere as well, but it is incorrect. Maybe correct for a Mustang GT

Thanks for the lead to Reinhart Automotive! I'll post if I find the custom grille I'm looking for.

Don't forget the dead pedal... it is the best bang for the buck improvement you can make (if you miss having one) it goes in easy, and at least for me it makes the car much more enjoyable to drive.... XM radio is also a great reasoanble addition.

Then consider brakes, tires, supercharger :) also you can drop the suspension and replace bushings with new ones increasing handling and responsiveness. Check out www.kennybrown.com for info on he dead pedal and suspension mods.Kenny Brown (www.kennybrown.com)

Thanks for the leads! Any ideas for reasonably priced cold air intake systems? I can't find one at any price!

At the time, there isn't a cold air kit specific to the Marauder. Dennis is currently working on one for the car.

Anyone able to recommend the aftermarket chip available from Jeg's over the one from Reinhart Automotive (or vice versa)? Is there a big difference in HP and/or any other performance factor?

Reinhart is a supporting vendor of this site and has worked with many of the members here. He can be short and curt to deal with sometimes but if you have a problem he will be there for you. I am not aware of anyone that was unhappy with the results they got. I know I am pleased. That IMHO gives him the nod over anyone else.

OK thanks. Glad his shop is only about 1.5 hrs from me. Think I'll cruise down there and see what he can do for me!

I just bought a honeycomb grille off ebay. It has the oval mounting area for the Ford emblem cast into it and the MM emblem won't cover it up. It would be a great pattern to send out to have a billet grille made from, but the MM grille is starting to grow on me. I guess I'll just re-sell the honeycomb grille. I've read somewhere that it does improve airflow to the radiator.

Thanks for the info. Do you remember the stock number for the KN air filter you are using? I can't find one listed for the MM anywhere.

I believe it's 33-2012. Do a search of the forums, it's been discussed lots.
