Well, got my under drive pullies yesterday from DR and installed them this morning. It gave me an excuse to bring the car out.
I'm amazed at how such a simple lttle change can make such a difference. The engine winds up wquicker, and I have an excellent little chirp on the hader 1-2 shifts.
For 225.00 and an hour's work... color me pleased!!
Last week I finally installed the the Pauls High Performance intake spacer from the raffle. Easy install, , no dyno for me, but I noticed a deeper sound from the engine when it's really using the air up. I could see why it would benefit these motors when I pulled the top off the intake. The runners take up alot of space under there.
Yeah about 2.5 hours between these two items to install and I'm good with them!

Rich,

How did this affect your idle?

I have been considering this mod and currently have Lidio's tune, which increased my idle (park/drive) ~ 200 rpms.

Will I need a flash after the install?

Mike.

Mike, Idle is as it was I see no change at all. I do have the Lidio tune from my SCT flasher, but I detrect no change. Volts drop down to 12 on the gauge at idle in traffic with the lights and fan on.
Hope this helps.

Yeah that sounds about right. I have the same mods as you but I do not notice any chirp from hard 1st to 2nd. Never have except one time when it was really wet and the tires screeched like hell from 1st to 2nd. U/d don't do too much in my opinion. That's just me though.

Perhaps it's also partly 'cause I need to put the new rear tires I have on too?

Way to go, Rich... Nice, eh?

MM2004, U/D pulleys do not change the actual idle speed, however they DO change the speed at which all the accessories rotate versus crankshaft speed. So the alternator will THINK the motor is idling slower and will not be able to put out as much current. That's the reason for the dimming lights and less effective A/C at idle. The ideal solution is to raise the idle in drive by 100-200 RPM, leaving the idle in Park (and Neutral) alone. Since you say your Lidio tune has already done that, you shouldn't need to re-flash.

You don't know the meaning of needing new rear tires. I've worn em down to the ribs. I rode on a set like that for two weeks too while I was waiting for my tires to come in from Bjs. I had some scarry experiences thoose two weeks.
