Own a 2004 Marauder. I bought a new SCT Xcalibrator (I) with the "stock" MAV2 tune on it about a year ago from Dallas Mustang. Whenever I have the tune loaded, I have a surging problem. DM reflashed the device for me, monitored the car for about ten minutes to see if any specific issues could be seen, but it still has the surge. It is annoying enough that I took it off since it picks inopportune times to surge, like when manuevering in a parking lot.:help:

Anyone out the have a similar problem with the SCT unit/tune or a solution like another/alternate tune?

Thanks
:(

ETA: Works fine with stock tune.

Maybe it's haunted like Christine!

I'd check the fuel filter.

You'll have to get the experts here to go beyond that.

Good Luck.

I also have the SCT Xcalibrator (MAV2) as you say and do not have a "surge" issue in the least.

My tune is setup for 3.55:1 factory gear ratio.

My first question is have you tried putting the stock tune back in to see if the surge issue goes away?

My tune is from Lidio, and cannot be more satisfied.

Mike.

From you, that does not surprise me.

Check out "Alternative Auto Performance" (Vendor on this web site)
Lidio should be able to offer some good advice. Call him.
Good Luck.:pimp:

I'm not certain that you are experiencing what I have been but my car will "flair" at idle as much as 500 RPM's when the A/C compressor comes on.:argue: Sometimes it is enough to move the car forward with the brake on at a stop light?? This happens after installing or modifying parameters with the DiabloSport tuner...I almost drove Dave at Injected Racing nuts with the "Blower" tune and this surging??

It seems that the EEC and it's "Adaptive Learning" feature allows this condition to keep it from stalling and in time (several days) of driving it moderates......I have experienced this several times lately as we are still trying different tuning parameters.:help:

Right now I have 3 days on the last custom tune install and the "Flair" is barely noticeable......Only about 50-100 RPM's at worst and it will settle in to barely perceptible in another couple of days!!:bows:

Weird?? Give it a few days and you might be surprised??

Now if you have surging at cruise......I may be able to help you there too!!

Good Luck!!

As I added on my original post, I have no problems with the stock tune, nice, even idle. With the SCT tune, idle is "smooth", just not steady. Revs go up and down 200-400 rpm and I cannot associate the changes with A/C cycling, power steering, etc. As I said, it doesn't vary rpm under load changes with stock.

Car is stock except a K&N AF (not the kit, just the filter). No mods to rear end or other bells and whistles. Still original tires.

Also, this last time, I had the SCT tune on for several months and about 5,000 miles. Plenty of time for the "learning" curve to be set.

I'm not sure where SCT got the tune, but it needs some work, at least for me.

Thanks for the responses.

Strange???

I was going to say it could be the IAC valve but if it is OK with the stock tune that ain't it!!?? Could be K & N oil on the MAF sensor but it would act up with the stock tune as well??

Call Lidio.....He may have an answer for ya?? Could be DM may have some Mustang "Poopie" in the tune??:argue:

Good Luck!!
