Welcome aboard.:D :welcome:
If you are looking to Mod a Marauder then you came to the right place.
There are many vendors that support this site. They have just about every Mod for a Marauder that is available.
Good luck on the sale of your Camero.

That's a sweet lookin' SS...(and I'm a Mustang guy!)
They would run circles around an unmodified Mustang, then just when Chevy kills the Camaro and ends the ponycar wars, Ford brings out the 'big guns' with the '03 S/C Cobra.

If it were me, I wouldn't be giving up a SS Camaro for a Marauder. Hm, no I wouldn't. Don't get me wrong, Marauders are great cars but performance wise you are actually trading down. I guess you no longer want a crampt sports car. I've ridden in a few F-bodys so I understand. They are not comfortable at all.
Basically, if you're looking to mod a Marauder, here's the best way to think of it. Now, I'm going to put it this way since you're a Gm guy, again nothing wrong with that. The Marauder is an Impala SS with a Northstar motor. It's not an easy engine to modify. You can't just bolt on headers like on a SBC and gain 50 hp, it just doesn't work that way on our car. The other thing is, is that overhead cam motors, like our quad cam Intech wonder, do not make much low end torque. Most of the power is 3000 rpm and higher. It won't drive with the same umph as your SBC.
The best thing to do is get a good tuner, either Lidio from Alternative Automotive or someone like Scott Beer from Diablo Motorsports, and get a good tune. Lidio's tune will only set you back $350 if you get the XCAL I and $400 if you get an XCAL II. The other key item you need is the 3000 rpm high stall PI Stallion Torque convertor. You'll need a retune inorder to make this mod work. A good torque convertor, like the 9.5 inch diamater PI unit can turn our heavy car into a firebreathing nightmare. The higher stall on the convertor allows you to launch the car at higher rpms, effectively getting the engine up to peak rpm much faster. Besides the higher stall, the small diameter disk has less rotaing mass being that is 9.5 inches in diameter vrs. the stock convertor's 11.4. Also, with the PI convertor, you'll be able to roast the tires when you mash the throttle. Especially with the stock tires.
The other way to get around poor low end torque is through a gear swap. The best gear for our car is 4.10s or 4.30s although some have gone higher than that. Though 4.10s are best for ecconomy and performance. Though, if you are short on cash, you're better off with just doing the convertor for one of many reasons. All though the convertor will cost a good bit more to buy, installation is around the same price, you'll encoutner a number of potential problems with gears. The main one being driveshaft vibration. It doesn't happen at the same mph for all cars but every car that has 4.10s or higher and uses the stock drive shaft will experience driveshaft vibration which could leave to driveshaft failure. It usually doesn't happen until you get up to 115 or so but some cars came with unbalanced driveshafts and the problem can occur at lower speeds, such as 80 - 90 mph.
Either way, it's a great car and good luck finding a good example. Florida has a lot of Marauders, probably the largest amount in the whole U.S. Either way, if you do find a car, make sure to post the vin here. RoyLPita can run the vin and give you a full Oasis history report of the car for free. Other mods to consider that can give mild but useful gains are the K&N Cold Air Intake and under drive pulleys. Have fun searching.
Hey,
Welcome aboard! What part of Florida are you in? Good luck in your quest. It's pretty hard to go wrong with a 'Big Merc'.
