...that was looking to copy the prototype Marauder interior Red Strip on the dash face?

I saw that as being pretty cool, and having a DTR I wanted to try something. I have been working on it and can post some photos when I get home. It's just trial stuff, but might satisfy....

I found this (very large) Pic., and it was Defyant who was going to do this, yes? Instead of paint, I am going to try leather. The red I have is a bit too red, I think...

That's a fairly simple mod, both the left and right trim panels pop out in two seconds.

Actually, I don't care much for this example of extra trim work, but it does give me some other ideas.

The speedo gauge pod can be in your hands in about half an hour, and you can trim out the panel just like the pic, overnight. None of it is a sealed unit, except the speedo itself, and there's no messing with that gauge.

Testor's rules!

Yup, I have not done the mod yet, but I will soon. Biggest hurdle is the right color red. I dont want it to look chinsey.

As for the guages, yeah, I am looking at that mod also. I thought about some testors paint, but frankly I do not have a very steady hand. I'll get an old guage cluster to practice with first.

I know it's not the same, I just have a bit of a gap under my passenger air bag I want to fill. I used a leather strip and stuffed it in there. I am working on a darker burgandy color to try as well.

What do you think?

That doesn't look half bad, you could have a double stripe going along the dash.

I did around the radio as I have some gaps there. I have about 300 different colors of leather I can use. Glittery Gold anyone????

Just playing around. I may just do Black, I mean Dark Charcoal, right....

It certainly changes the "mood" of the interior.

Not bad at all. Becareful not to get to gaudy.

I will get some paint and do some tests. You only get one shot at getting it right.

Anyone have a close up of the cluster?

I think that looks real, real good! Where did you get that leather strip?

I have been thinking of stoping in one of the local auto parts stores and seeing if they have some kind of "brushed" metal trim that could be used around our gauges like in the picture.
Maybe door guard trim or something similar.

How hard is it get into the gauge cluster???

We have a leather importer/supplier in Buffalo. They need to get rid of their scrap, so I picked up a couple boxes originally for my kids school for projects and stuff.

I cut some in strips and sewed it into a cord and just stuffed it in the gap. I have been experimenting and found some glue that works. Much easier than sewing leather.

I have chosen a deeper red, matches the exterior better, and will make up the strips and install this weekend (I hope) I have been diving with it partially done and am really begining to like it a lot.

If you need any leather, let me know the color and I can send some out to you. I fashioned some matching circles to fit inside the cup holders. I like black there best.

I wish I had a way of embossing the Gods Head (like in our seat). Anyone know how to do that?

Not hard at all. Takes maybe ten minutes, or less, if you know what you are doing. The reason I am not excited about doing it again is because I have a lot of things around or interfering with the dash bezel.
