Haha I'm not going to start that again, but I heard of a blower that you can turn on and off. This was from like 30 years ago or something. Did this really exist and if so why don't they make them anymore? Thanks.

So it was just all Hollywood this didn't exist?

Yes Virginia, there is no Santa Claus.

The blower was a Weiand 6-71, topped with a Scott intake hat/scoop. But it was fake, the blower was gutted, the carb sat inside of there, and it was run like that. They then rigged an electric motor to the blower belt from down below the hood to spin the blower pulley....hence the 'turn it on when I want' blower function.

Yeah I was crushed too when i discovered this. Theres a cool site, do a google for mad max cars....pretty neat stuff.

For Marty, theres a guy in NY with a replica MFP Interceptor, just like Max's! :)

Just hope you dont see Lord Humongous in your rear view.

This is the only real electric supercharger I have ever heard of. I have heard that on small displacement motors it has done alright. http://www.boosthead.com/home.php

Whew...Glad to see I'm not the only Mad Max fan here.

Any "Super Soul" fans here besides Merc?

I recall a Mercedes aftermarket builder/tuner that had a low boost (@6psi) belt driven supercharger that was controlled by a selenoid, just like an A/C compressor.
I think that it was LORENSON, LORENSEN, LORENZEN?:dunno:
I thought that it was a pretty neat idea...a real world Mad Max engine.

Mac you are killing me, "Super Soul" Ok, I guess I deserve it after the Fahrenheit 451 comment.

Merc..."Super Soul"...Dude, I thought for sure you would have been a fan.

Clevon Little's role in "Vanishing Point."

No revenge my friend. I didn't get it anyway and before I could ask, the thread got closed. What ever...

Oh, now I get it. Time to make a change.:rasta:

I always wondered why you couldn't have some sort of adjustable tensioner or clutch for the blower belt, it would have to be tied into fuel flow to I guess.

Can someone explain this schematic to me? This is the wiring diagram for the electric supercharger mentioned above^^^. If this is the way a typical ricer is set up, then that explains a lot... :shake:

C'mon, Bob, you're getting rusty... don't you recognize a nice short circuit when you see one? And you thought those colours emanating from inside a ricermobile were due to neons... silly Bob.

I suspect that wiring diagram explains why ricers see huge increases in performance when they install those 'voltage stabilizers' we occasionally discuss. ;)

Overall nice circuit diagram. I believe it's included in the 3-step business plan for ricer performance, which (from memory) goes something like this:

Step 1. get electric motor
Step 2. ??
Step 3. Obtain incredible amounts of horsepower

Um excuse me fellas but I thought I remember a car that had a switched blower and doing a little research I found it. To all your surprises it was built by none other than Ford. http://www.mustang50magazine.com/featuredvehicles/4303/
This is by far the meanest car ever. When I win the lotto I'll let you know how it runs cause I will build this motor for my MM. LOL

So there is hope!!!

Step 1. get electric motor
Step 2. ??
Step 3. Obtain incredible amounts of horsepower/Steve, I believe Step 2. is: Install "Type R" badge

That schematic looks like the voltage would stabilise at approx. zero when the switch is closed.

I remember a thread circulating on here once before about this very same subject and it was found that someone had made this electric clutch but there wasn't any real use for it.:D

We need to get in touch with the guy who's pawning this schematic, and follow up with his customers. I see a BIG market for replacement voltage regulators. :D

Why couldn't you use something like an AC clutch? Flip the switch, the clutch engages, and the supercharger starts pumping.

Althoiugh, I suspect, with the cost of the modification you would make your money back in about 63 years.
