last night while i was driving home i had turned on my high beams which i havent used since i've had my car and after i turned them off my wipers came on. ok so i thought i had just turned the knob....nope. they were in the off position. so in off they act like their on low and the next click up acts like high with the rest of the delayed section working fine, low and high were fine to. drove the car today for about 20 mins nothing after getting to where i needed to go and doing what i had to do i got back in my car and again they started acting like they were on the low setting but in the off position. anyone had this problem before, i know i will end up going back to the dealership to get it fixed but anything i can do in the mean time?

I've heard this before. I had the same problem in my '00 Ranger. It's a switch in the knob.

Here's the thread >>>>> http://www.mercurymarauder.net/forums/showthread.php?t=18971&highlight=reservoir thanks for the thread. my washer isnt sparying just the wipers come on every 15-17 secs, it did it for about 20 mins this morning when i had the car warming up while shoveling snow and then went off for about 5 mins drove the car around the block and came back on before i turned it off :mad2: . ill have to wait till the end of the week to take it to the dealership. so i will prepare myself for having to pay for a new wiper motor. car has lil over 44k now but i bought a 48month esp so im covered just have to pay the $100 deductible.

I had freaky wiper syndrome also. Fortunately it was under 3/36 at the time so no deductible. I think they replaced the wiper motor and some sort of wiring harness assembly that is associated with the wipers with a newer version.

Ask BigDogJim.

Wait till he goes to the Dealership at they tell him "Sir all Grand Marquis" do that:laugh:

Pull fuse # 7 (I think) check the book. if they go off on a sunny day:)

It is more than likely the module causing the problem.

Been through it 3 times:P :help:

My earlier post and dealer info:
I had the intermittant wiper problem last summer (only) after about 30 minutes driving. He confirmed there is a Technical Service Bulletin (TSB) #05-04-09, "Uncommanded wiper operation". He said it calls for a new wiper motor and pigtail/harness. It would be nice if someone would/could post a copy of said TSB. Strange to hear it has been a problem since at least 2001!<!-- / message --><!-- sig -->
