There is nothing I love more than seeing my CLEAN, black shiny car. But wouldnt you know it, its like a magnet for OTHER people to mess it up. Its like they just have to put their finger prints all over it, close the door using their entire palm on my window, shut my hood using 2 hands on my hood, looking into the engine bay with both hands on my fender, and the worst, leaning on my car like its a couch. Theres an obvious blemish left and its like they're oblivious to it. Is it just me being anal, or do any of you have the same problems?

I only use the handles to open and close the car and I use the hood cetch to close it.

Thank you!!! Im glad someone else has a brain! I always feel like I have to lay down the rules whenever someone rides in my car. I hate doing that.

Could have been worse. Couldn't see being sane if I owned a mustang cause frameless windows don't like it too much when passengers use them to close the door.

I say we do it the old fashion way, we dig a 6 foot hole :gunfire: & push them in . That at least would give them something to think about.

wow, I can totally relate. A car duster and microfiber cloth are both lifesavers. But there was one time last summer when my buddies and I were standing around talking cars (as usual) when some impudent little wretch (one of my buddy's 15 year old neighbor) felt it necessary to sit on my front fender after I just got it washed! :censor: Needless to say after a few choice words, he, uh, corrected this discrepancy....

I think we all have this problem to some extent. Remember to the vast majority of people cars are to get from point a to point b and to hell with how it looks or runs.

A friend had an '89 Formula with a t-top. When I rode hime one, I put my hand on the flat black part of the passenger t-top and he then proceeded to hand me a rag to wipe off my prints.

Must be why the inside of my trunk looks like the stock room at a detailing shop. :shake:

LOL I am lucky to have a wife that sees the little things that I can't. She is more picky about the car's appearance at shows than I will ever be.

Reminds me when I was at a car show in 100 degree heat and I was told that some little brat decided to look at his own reflection in my hood while holding a ice cream cone, (can see where this is going?)
Half the ice cream ended up on the hood, the other half on the front bumper, If I seen it happen personally I probably would have grabbed the kid and used his shirt to wipe off my car. :mad2:
I also had a guy use my clean shiny tire as a foot rest to tie his shoe lace.
I asked him where his car is and if I could use his hood as a shoe rack, I just got a look and he walked away. :shake:

I'm anal about that stuff too. You may not want to use the hood catch....use the metal lip under the hood. You may one day not get your fingers out of the latch quick enough. It didn't happen to me....but ever since getting the door in the head......I'm a bit more cautious with things. :)

 Good reply.
If I have to give someone a ride, I always wash/clean the floor-mat where
they were sitting at. I'm also afraid of a 'heavy-set' passenger as
I don't want wrinkles in the leather. And yes, I am serious :o

Back in the day on non-electronic cars I added a neon transformer (30,000 volts) to the alarm's armed output. Drop a leg of that AC on the body (since DC and AC will play together on the same circuit). Touch the car and.... BZZZZOWWWWIE! If it was wet out, it'd get 'em from 2-3 inches away!
That's what we need!!!!!

Glad to see I am not the only one who is anal about there black car. I wipe mine off before I head anywhere, usually sometime while I am out and about and one last time before i go in for the day. I watch people like a hawk when they are aorund my MM. One time got it all detailed and the Gf wanted to go to mall, parked away from everyone else and someone thought it would be fun to put there greasy fingers all over the car. I was pissed.

Mark, there's a simple solution to this. Keep one roll of paper towels in your trunk at all times and get the Mequiar's Quick Detailer spray. It can solve most touchups and mishaps within a few seconds of use. The key is to be prepared, you never know what life may throw at you. Other good things to keep in your trunk is some carpet cleaner, leather cleaner, dashboard plastic cleaner, and windshield cleaner. I have all of these, minus the carpet cleaner, on me at all times. Oh yeah, about that no respect thing, well I had a few unfortuante inccedents, thankfully nothing too bad. One time, after just waxing my car, my friend jump on my trunk and then proceeded to slide across it just to feel how smooth it was. That bit ended really quickly. Another time, my friend was leaning against my bumper, and he was really drunk, and he caved in part of the bumper. It looked like I had backed into a lamp post! Thankfully, I managed to stick my hand under the frame and push the plastic bumper back into shape. It did sligthly crack the bumper though, nothing bad, just a small crack.

OK I feel better that Im not the only one with a plastic bin full of cleaning supplies in the trunk. Im also glad the Everyone else parks there car out in left feild so they can keep a eye on it as I do.
Nothing is worse then a dinged fender or door.
Fingerprints rank up there too!

Black cars are BEAUTIFUL............when they are clean but they don't stay that way very long living outside and with inconsiderate folks!!!:mad2: :argue:
I had one really nice black car but the time spent keeping it clean got to me and it alone was my first deterrent to a Marauder.....ONLY IN BLACK!!:help:
When the other colors became available I WAS READY!!
My silver car doesn't show much in the way of dirt or finger prints and allows me to be....LAZY!! But I still really appreciate a clean black car!!!:bows:

I have everything in a bucket in the back of my car. Detail spray, window cleaner, all my waxesetc, and a huge supply of microfiber towels. I even keep one of my buffers with me, all I need to do is plug it into the cig lighter and I am good to go. During the summer when its nice and warm and I am traveling, its nothing for me to stop at a rest area every couple of hours and completely wipe down the car. I have even waxed it at the rest area lol. If thats not anal I dont know what is. Theres just something about traveling in a nice clean car:D .
