I have a 2003 Mercury Marauder with 33,000 highway miles on it I live off a highway , it hardly ever goes in town except once every 2 weeks. It is in excellent shape and is kept extremely clean. It does have one dent where a tock hit it on hood, but didn't hurt paint am thinking about having it repaired the cost is 200.00. How much is my car worth it is the first year they came out and I haven't done anything to it , so all original!!!!!!! A car dealership here was going to give me 13.000 on trade in I walked away told them they could keep Five -Hundred!!!! Miss "G"

Welcome :welcome: to the MM.Net, Ms. "G". A $200 ding in the hood ... at that price it is probably barely noticeable. :D

Post up your location ... there may be a local MM group near you.

The Marauder is Priceless .... but ya gotta get it out and drive it. Take it to town and let the locals ogle it awhile. There ain't another car out there that draws attention like a clean and shiny Marauder. You can't put a price on that. That dealer was just trying to steal your car at $13K ... its easily worth $5-6,000 more than that without the sentimental and style values attached. ;)

Wecome Miss G!

If the dent didn't dig into the paint then they are probably going to use a "paint-less dent repair" vendor to fix it. Should be a lot cheaper if you can find the vendor directly. I've had this done twice to my Marauder for minor "boo-boos" and no one would be the wiser.

The Kelly Blue Book on your car (and it depends on zip code, which I do not know, so I used my own) shows $13,300 for an '03 in "good" condition, $14,700 for "excellent" This is for average trade in value. The car you are buying should also be discounted, either by discounting the MSRP or by "over allowing" on your trade. For example, if the new car was discounted $3,000 (don't include rebates, but real discounting), then that would give you $16,000 for the Marauder.

If you are trading for a Five Hundred, which has not sold as well as Ford has wanted, you should be getting a substantial discount on the new car, plus Ford Credit is offering 0% financing. You'd take the 0% over any rebate.

This may be the way to go, especially if you still owe money on the Marauder and financed it for a rate higher than 0$. FMC generally will load up to 125% of MSRP for good credit buyers, so you could roll some of the old loan into the new and at a 0% rate.

Good luck and good hunting.

If you need to trade because of MPG then that is understandable. Still 33,000 in 3 1/2 years of owneship is low miles? (if you bought it new)Marauder has the highest safety rating of any full size car! Retail in my area (Philadelphia,Pa.) is very high, dealers are getting top dollar for used Marauders because of supply and demand. Again location is a factor.
Good luck. We all like the fact the our cars are not "dime a dozen":)

Welcome Miss G. I hope that we answered your questions. We really love our MMers and find that most other people like them to. One of the reasons we care so much about them is this site and our involvement with each other thru it. Hang around a while and do a little research on your car and it's potential. You may find you want to keep it! Get involved with the local MM.Net group in your area. This is a lot more than just a used car. Enjoy. Dennis:beer:
