I am sure this has been covered before but I am gonna ask anyway. How long did it take you guys to figure out the shift patterns of the tranny? Seems everytime I think I have the thing figured out it changes its program and I have to re-learn the throttle, RPM, and shift curve.

Got mine pretty quick, but it hunts for a gear between 35 and 45. VERY annoying
All of this is corrected with Dennis' chip...

Mine tends to hunt between 65 and 70 always downshifts during the sweet spot at about 4000 hits 6000 in lower gear for a sec and shifts back up...this is with OD off

Good One, Sarge.
I like how you stay out of the "sand-box" on the "low level" stuff then zing us with the "high-brow" stuff

I got the ECM update on my stock chip couple months ago.
It did improve the shift pattern somewhat. I also have over
15k on mine.
She opened up noticeably. I drive in the city with OD-Off. That helps, too.
Maybe sometime after warranty is up I'll get the RPC and stuff. Can't take chances otherwise.
And remember, it only gets better from here on.

MMM2003 when you said your ECM was updated to help the poor shift points, was that done at your Ford/Mercury dealer recently?

I just had mine in for its first oil change(@3002miles) and i asked about the PCM update. THEY HAD NO CLUE it was like i was talking FRENCH. after about 20 min of trying to explain it to him he gets on the Oasis comp and looks for POOR ACCELERATION. Finally finds it and flashes the PMC. let me say I DO NOTICE A DIFFERENCE! It doesnt "HUNT" as often and really did improve performance a tiny bit. best of all ITS COVERED BY FORD n/c (my favorite price)! I do plan on buying the stage I kit from dennis, but 2 things are stoping (more like delaying) me. 1=$, and 2.im a bit worried about the warranty. I think i'll keep shaking the service managers hand with a $20 untill he's under my control (hehe muhuhahaha). then after the warranty's expired... its TURBO TIME.....Da i mean SUPERCHARGER TIME!

Ok here goes...........
SSM 16428
2002 Marauder(that's what it sez) Hesitation/Stumble cold only
SOME 2003 MARAUDERS MAY EXHIBIT A HESITATION/STUMBLE DURING THE FIRST 2 MINUTES OF OPERATION FOLLOWING A COLD START. THIS WILL TYPICALLY OCCUR WHEN THE AMBIENT TEMPERATURE IS APPROXIMATELY 70-90DEGREES F DURING THE OPEN LOOP STAGE. THIS MAY BE DUE TO THE PCM. TO SERVICE, REPROGRAM THE PCM WITH THE LATEST CALIBRATION USING WDS RELEASE B22NM-2 OR LATER. THE LATEST CALIBRATION CONTAINS IMPROVED AIR/FUEL MIXTURE RATIOS.
SYMPTOM CODE TARGETS:
611000 DRIVEABILITY HESITATION/STUMBLE
614000 DRIVEABILITY LACK/LOSS OF POWER

Now I get it. That's the update I got back in February I was trying to tell you all about. Problem was, I ALREADY had the chip, therefore I noticed little if any change.

My shifting improved with the Reinhart chip, but the rough idle when cold symptoms remained over the winter months. After my Team Ford dyno tune, they went away.

Sarg I've been conversing with the Ford Chip Guys and was able to get a slot in their next visit to the Windy City. Alberto stated check their web site for the next trip to Chicago and they will get me in!
I think I saw where you had stated that even a stock MM would benefit from their fine tuning experties.
By the way Sarg did you get involved in the Chicago Police donut eating contest I heard about on TV?
Have a good one!

Yes, but all means, this professional "fine tune" will benefit all MM owners with any level mods. Anyone interested in the details shoulc do a search on "Team Ford Power Tune." It's money well spent, and you back get a car you never had before.

Okay Billy, that will be enough from you.
BTW, you got one of those cards in you wallet, right? You know, the card that says "in case of emergency, notify..."
Just checking...
