I purchased my xcal2 from Reinhart Automotive with custom tune already loaded on it. Yes, it's just takes maybe five minutes to load the tune via the OBDII port. The xcal2 can also function as a trouble code reader for most all later model Ford vehicles and has some data logger functions when connected to your laptop while you drive.
I am very happy with my purchase. The custom tune fixes the constant shifting problems at lower speeds and irons out flat spots in the acceleration under heavy throttle. There is definitely more horsepower freed up at lower RPMs.
Is it worth 400 bucks? That's a matter of personal opinion. To me it is definitely worth it. It makes the car much more fun to drive.
My wife commented last night that the Marauder is much more responsive and accelerates harder than her 00 mustang GT.

There is no difference in the Xcal2 and the SF. Other than the SF has some standard tunes put in it and the Xcal2 must be loaded with the program of choice.
The SF CAN have custom tunes loaded to it as well. But it would have a 'out of the box' tune for the Marauder already in it the way it sits on the shelf. So buying the SF saves the basically stock Marauder owner from having to work with a tuner for either a dyno tune or a best guess based on what mods your car has.
That is per the tech at Superchips.. Which I talked to on the phone and now have met in person.

I made sure I had the extra $400 when I bought my Marauder to get the XCal2. The car is so much more enjoyable to drive with the tune in it. I got my from Lidio with a 91 and 93 octane tunes on it. I run the 91 tune in the winter in case we get bad gas or something. I will load the 93 back in there once the bad weather is gone.
It completely changes the driveability of the car to the way it should have come from the factory. Plus, I now have my XCal2 already for when I get a Trilogy (eventually) and will have Lidio update it with new tunes for that.

so the xcal2 comes with what programs? i thought it came with 3 "tunes"
could i have one stock and then the other two whatever would work best for a stock with free-flow mufflers and a jlt intake

I have the XCal 2 and am very pleased. As everyone has said, and is true for me, it revitalizes the engine and drive train. You can make your own adjustments as well. I deal with Dennis Reinhart and am very pleased with him and what he sells and services.
Worth it? To me, yes. I think you will see the benefits too.
