I tried posting this in the news section with our Godshead Emblem post but couldn't.

I have commenced production of a spare tire cover for the Marauder. Our cover will feature a system to prevent it from sliding off of the tire. It will be available with or without embroidery and will feature the correct color material (or black if preferred) and the OEM backing board. I do not have a production schedule, but have a status update scheduled for the end of next week. Until then, can those who might be interested in this product (I expect (THIS IS NOT FIRM) pricing to be between $80 and $100 for a STC with 1 logo included) please give us a heads up so we can get an estimate for our supplier? This might help us with regard to pricing.

Thanks,

Alan

I'd be interested in one with a big God's head... like almost the size of the STC.

I think one that isn't a "Half" cover would be decent. I personally do not want to go insane with the gods-head, I just want it to blend in.

WHAT HE SAID ^^^^^ and it would have to actually fit over the tire all the way around not like the oem cover fits half way...also there is two covers one that fits fullsize spare mostly 03s and one that fits donut spare mostly 04s..are you going to offer both sizes??

Yes, but I need measurements (diameter and the width of the tire) so I can have both made. On the cover, it appears that something that is a full cover with an elastic bottom would work, right?

Yes, The elastic band is a good idea. To go under the accesible part of the tire where it overhangs the shelf, or around the part that is hard to reach near the rear seat...?

Will the embroidery be on the tread cover area, not the top?
That way it can be seen with the trunk open.

how about a custom tire rack with god head baging seeing as i carry 2 spare wheels 1 with a front size tire and 1 with a rear size tire on it lol. yes i know its extra weight but id rather carry it around than ever chance driving on that lil geo spare lol. i removed the spare because within the next next few months i plan on putting a custom fiberglass sub enclosure there with either 2 or 3 10" subs and removing the rear speakers and use the holes as ports. a friend of mine did it in his cv lx sport and it sounds awesome and doesnt take up any extra trunk space.

Alan,
Yes, I would be interested in 2 spare tire covers for each of my MMs -- both are of the compact spare variety. You must promise that they WILL NOT come off unless taken off deliberatly!!! Thank you in advance!

Alan,

All that remains for me is to find out what the diameter of the spare tire is (from tire edge to tire edge).

Can someone provide some help with this?

We all know how the Marauder spare tires came from the factory. Early 2003 models with a full size spare tire and the late 2003 and all 2004 vehicles were outfitted with the small spare tire. Now that being said, would someone please come forward and provide the diameter measurements for both types of spare tires. Another way to ensure it is correct is to call Alan directly at 678-431-1408 and provide him the information. If you are living in the Atlanta area, meet Alan this weekend and let hime measure you cars's spare.

Thank you,

Rich

I just measured my front and rear tires and came up with this.

Front : 27 " across - 9.5 " deep

Rear : 28.25 " across - 10 " deep

I will measure my mini-spare a bit later this morning.

The above measurements ar right on the button, so you will have to add a bit to clear the tire, otherwise it would be like putting on a condom....

Also, keep in mind the front tires have 23,000 miles and the rears have 9,000 miles. Goodrich says the tires are 27.2" & 28.5 " respectively.

The mini-spare is 27.75 " across and only 7.75 " deep. Please note the rim for the mini-spare is off-set, much like a bowl. The tire is much thinner than 7.75". Same as above, these measurement are tight fit..

Hope this helps.

So the rim sticks out from the tire. Using your bowl analogy, the tire is like the edges of the bowl and the rim is the bottom part of the bowl that sits on the table/counter.

Correct?

Alan,

I've got the full size cover in hand, embroidered with MARAUDER along the tire side and it looks awesome. I will be trying to locate a car this weekend to install it and take pictures for the forum. The cover we have made is far nicer than the OEM and different in a couple of ways. First, we used a much thicker and nicer material. Second, the back board on the OEM covers is rather flimsy whereas our board is much thicker and rigid. Finally, we have installed a strap on the back to keep the cover from sliding off the tire under acceleration.

Details, ordering forms and pics to come this weekend.....

Can't wait to see the final product!! I'm curios how Carmotorsports is going to handle the small spare's on the 04's.
