View Full Version : Aftermarket cd player and oem sub and amp

Is there a way that the OEM sub can be hooked up so that it will still work with a aftermarket cd player? I have a new pioneer cd player im about to install and i dont want a big sub woofer box i want to use the oem one that came in our cars....

Theorietically it's possible. The factory amp uses balanced inputs. You would have to buy a device to convert the radio's unbalanced inputs to balanced. By the time you did that, you could have purchased a small (50W) bridgeable amp to run the factory sub. Besides, the factory sub isn't much in the way of sound. You could get a self powered bazooka or some here have used Infinity self-powered subs.

It's possible, just not practicle. I would advise spending the bucks on upgrade.
