I have put this off as long as I can but I am hoping that y'all can advise me on a good car cover for out door use. I live in a house with a decent size front lawn. All of my neighbors get their grass cut on a different day of the week. As a result, fragments from said lawn maintenance dirty my freshly clean car in any given 24 hours (that's right, my car cannot stay clean for over 24 hours because the dust and other fragments stick to my paint).

I used to just wash my car twice a week but that got old. Once a week wash leaves me driving a dirty car at least 5 days a week. I am hoping that y'all can recommend a specific car cover (Brand/Size/seller) that will just keep all this dust/fragments from my car.

I have attempted to use the search on this site but got nothing specific. I did hear from a friend that I must get one that breaths for the condensation.

Also, do any of you advice against a car cover? I heard that they could cause damage to the paint if it rains on them.

California Car Cover is the best IMHO, as I have one for my MM.

Pricey, but worth it.

My dealer included the Marauder car cover with my purchase. It is water repellant and designed specifically for the Marauder, with said logo on the front. Has a clear plastic piece for the rear licence plate and tie down lanyard as well. Check with the "Dealer" on this site and see what he can do for you.

In my opinion this will solve your issue. I kept my Marauder covered from August thru November the first few months I had her, and had no problems at all.

Another benefit with this cover is it folds up really small. I keep it above my spare in case I am at a place that spews nasties. Just in case...

Thanks for the link. They do seem nice. Some, however, are near $500.00. Which model do you have and do you use it out doors where it might rain?

Is this cover washable? And I will be sending our man Ray Sr. a pm about this cover. Thank you for the suggestion.

Yes, it's washable, on gentle.... Air dry.... no soap.

If you wash it too often it will loose it's water repelancy. Mine has faded from black to grey. Let my know how you make out with Ray.

Do you still use your cover now that it is faded-do you feel that it still works as intended for outdoor use? Did it fade from the sun or from washing it? It seems like I will have to wash mine at least once every 2-3 weeks. Will it still last me under those conditions? Sorry for all of the questions and I am very thankful for all of the information.

I admit, I have never washed mine in a machine. Just with a hose on the car if it gets soiled. Mine faded from the sun. I was in Chicago for 3 months right after I got mine, so it sat in my driveway untouched.

The water still beads up and runs off, Much like my Gortex Rain jacket. The material is very soft and breathable. I never see any water on my car after it rains while covered. If the wind blows the mirror releifs off, they fill with water and hold it.

I really like this cover. I have had it and used it for 18 months without a problem. The fading hasn't done anything to affect it's performance. I live in area with lots of Jet Fuel in the air, that is most likely the reason it has lightned a bit. I'm not worried about it, but I like the cover so much it would be good to have an extra if the price is good. Know what I mean. Might even get one for my '65 Bird.

I can throw it on this evening and take a pic if you would like.

The one I have was for my '89 GM. Doesn't fit the way it should, but definiately works.

I paid

~$230.00 for mine years ago. Unsure of the model #.

The water will soak thru when it rains, but when dry, I remove the cover, hose the car down, and wipr dry with micro-fiber towels, a little Zaino then good as new.

I got two covers from CCCC. Covercraft is another good company (http://www.covercraft.com/). They use the same materials. I'm happy with CCCC though.

I had a Noah cover for my Bronco. I used it in a garage only. I thought I would store it outside more but didn't. So, I don't know how well it performs in bad weather. I didn't like the feeling of the fabric though. It felt like soft paper towel. It's probably fine for paint. Its not the baby's butt soft I would have preferred. Water beaded up on it great though. CCCC has a Stormweave fabric that sounds like it may be softer.

I currently have an indoor cover from CCCC for my Cobra. It is sprayed with a water repelent so that stray water doesn't soak in. It eventually does if you leave it on there. That water repelent can wash off if you wash it with detergent. IIRC, the directions stated to wash it with Fantastik. Also, the cover is way too big to fit in a standard washing machine. You'll have to take it someplace.

This indoor cover does not stop dust from passing through. I live in a new neighborhood still under contruction. The contruction kicks up a lot of dust (I can't even open the windows in my house). Even with the cover on, after a while when I remove the cover, dust will have collected underneath. CCCC sells a duststop fabric which is supposed to be better at stopping dust. I don't know how good the outdoor covers stop dust. Its one question you should ask these companies. I recommend not using an indoor cover for outdoor use. I can't imagine it lasting long and it may do some damage too.
