Does anyone want to share what all they have done to their cars this winter that will threaten my record?
I am starting to think I should have done more than just wet sanding it. :D
By the way, I am still looking for an aluminum hood from a CV if anyone has a lead on one that can be shipped to me vacation house in the ATL.

ROFL no I ran out of those after my "Nova" project. ;)
I was more referring to the those members already in the low 11's, I'm hoping to see a few Marauders in the 10's. Don't see mine being there in 2006, but hopefully some others!!!
All we need to do now is pay off the track officials to allow us to run our cars without a cage or Marty will be remain the king.
Im not getting a cage so Ill start setting money aside!

What will you do to back up your numbers? Once you run a low pass once, they will boot you.
I honestky don't think a cage is necessary in our cars with full frames, but we gotta keep the man happy.

I think that you should be worried about Mike. He has been smart and patient with his build up. He will surpass me, and even Lidio, this year. Nothing extreme, radical, or self indulgent. Mike has been doing this as long as Lidio has been building up Mustangs, so its been an easy process to get to where he will be shortly. Personally, I refuse to spend the boatload of money on pushing a 2 ton brick into the tens. Thats why God built Mach 1s and Mustang GTs!

Nothing to worry about from me... YET.
All I've done is get a rebuilt/upgraded tranny, new posi, and find a new tuner.
Hopefully I'll be sporting a built motor by fall. But no cage, so I have no great desire to go quicker than 11.50.

If you get a set from a '97 you could have your local panel beater re-skin them to look right.

So Wes, what is teh verdict here? Can you get me an aluminum hood and/or trunk that will fit? I thought you were working on something in fiberglass? Is that still a possibility? Would it be lighter than almuinum?

I am, but progress is slow. There aren't a lot of folks who want to make just one.
I think at the end of the day, the 'glass will weigh less, but cost and production times are factors too.
So, in the meantime, we did a few other things to pull some weight off of the car. Hell, we are even on negotiations to hire a midget driver! :D
Hopefully our ideas will work until I get the hood thing worked out.
I know that there are people looking to de-throne me, so we have to keep busy. Even my lawyers are busy looking at the legitimacy of the guys who are running without 'cages. ;)

Martyo,
I have really enjoyed the competitive nature of everyone's efforts to be the fastest. I won't say the record will be mine, but I will say I will try hard to earn it back, and keep it. I will not be able to do all of the modifications I had planned to my car for the Florida trip, but Phase 1 will be done and Phase 2 will follow a couple of months after that. But, the anticipation of the events and the challenge is abolutely great!!! I love it!!!!
I sincerely hope you are buying me Diet Coke very soon! Keep up the good work on your car.
Sincerely,
Jerry
