I am now thinking about a engine rebuild, but I didn't wanna do it with stock replacement parts. Nothing big maybe just forged pistons and a different cam for the up and coming blower. How much do you think a rebuild would cost with forged pistons and a mild cam? Thanks.

Talk to Jim O'Neill at fastford@peoplepc.com/ Jim worked with Jerry at Ford for years, currently works as an engineer in engine development at Ford and knows your 4.6 inside and out. Jim is very easy to work with. Do yourself a favor and at least hear what he has to say.

Check this out if you haven't already. Ask the people involved...I'm sure they know how much everything costs.

SHM or CHP shortlblock. Then all You'd need to do is put your top end together. You could prolly sell your stock bottom end to help with the costs.

I'm going to throw my two cents in and recommend MMR. They did a nice job building my new motor.

It makes no sense to rebuild an engine and use stock rods. While you're in there change them to forged pieces and also install billet oil pump gears. Its cheap insurance. If you're that tight on money and can't afford them, skip the cams instead. They don't offer as much bang for the buck as rods and oil pump gears.
