View Full Version : Has anyone fitted a 15" wheel on the rear?

I ask because it is 19 degrees outside and my MM is firmly parked...
Naw...seriously...I found a tire I like but to maintain 28" height I need to fit a 15" wheel.
I am asking the folks in the warmer climates that have some time on their hands to see if a Ford 15" rim will clear the calipers on the rears.
Offsets and back spacing are not to be concerned with as far as visual asthetics are concerned.
I obviously have time, so if someone can check in the next few weeks, I sure would be thankfull.;)

I could give it a try. I still have 4 15" CVPI rims from my old '95 Vic.

Doesn't Marty run 15" slicks on his hot-rod?

Yes a 15 inch wheel should fit the rear. Only the front rotor size was changed in 1998 requiring a 16 inch wheel.

How about take all 4? Use the other 2 on the beater.

I know 15s fit on my car, because I tried a customer's 15s on mine. They were too wide for the car (10" rims) but they cleared the brakes.
But you don't need 15" to use a 28" tire. I am running the 28x11.5-16 Hoosiers on a 16" rim.

This thread is a bit old, but let me add...
I had originally inquired into 15's as I wanted to get a set of the newer Mickey Thompson RADIAL cheater slicks, and ditch my current 16" M/T cheaters that are BIAS PLY.
The bias ply generate a rear end 'shimmy' at high speeds because of their disagreement with radials on the front.
I have since lost interest in racing and frankly quit looking.
It is nice to hear the 15 fit however.;)
