Anyone have an engine vibration at 2000 rpm? I took it to my local dealer and they couldn't find anything wrong and said that was normal for that engine.

Drive shaft?

Thanks for the response,
No, it's not the drive shaft it's the engine. Any gear or in park, as I increase rpm, the vibration comes on at about 2000 and then decreases as it gets past 2500 rpm.

Welcome aboard. Sometimes the harmonic balancer can come apart and cause a vibration.

Torque Converter or Flex Plate?
Friend had a truck with a cracked flex plate that only vibrated from 1800-2800 rpm.

Are you bonestock??? Sounds like a problem with crankshaft/dampener pulley.

It's stock. I suppose an inexpensive fix would be to replace the harmonic balancer.

Without any load on the engine, my #1x vibrates at 1500 to 1700 RPM, and my #3 vibrates 1900 to 2000 RPM. Two very narrow windows, doesn't bother me a bit.

I got the car. Anyways, good luck getting them to own up and fix it. Expect it varies by dealer, but my experience
with Ford warranty service hasn't been so good with the last 3 I've owned (and 3 different dealers). Seems the
brain trust at Ford believes the best way to lower warranty expenses is to get the dealers to avoid doing the work.
If it doesn't come in on a flat-bed, they can't seem to replicate the problem, or else "they all do that"...

crouse, if TripleTransAm doesn't reply here, send him a PM...I think he had a very similar issue with his #1 MM...

Open the hood and watch your belt tensioner when you rev through that range....Mine hops around a bit at about 2000 RPM's and I may have the same vibration as you are describing......But only with no load!!??
My Cobra has a very noticeable vibration at 1200-1600 RPM's and I found that it a harmonic vibration of the exhaust system.....All mechanical systems have harmonics no matter how well they are balanced.:bows:
Good luck!!

I can't say I noticed a 'problem' per se... I think I mentioned in another thread how I noticed this kind of vibration in the narrow 1700RPM-1800 RPM window, and how I also noticed the same vibration on some if not all of my other V8s. Last time I actually paid attention to this vibration was when I noticed it, sometime in the late 1980s on a Pontiac Parisienne. Now, whenever I feel that same vibration, my brain instinctively discounts it as some inherent V8 vibration. Maybe I'm totally wrong on this, but it's just so coincidental to have this same type of feel on all my V8s at exactly the same point.
It's not even what most people would call vibration... could even be a simple case of the vehicle's chassis reverberating at that RPM or something like that. In my opinion, most people wouldn't even notice this vibe I speak of. So I don't think it's what's being discussed here, especially if it spans 500 RPM starting at 2000 RPM.
I'd look at the plugs for more info. From some recent threads, seems these cars can tolerate misfires without reporting them via the EEC, which if you ask me is a big OBD-II no-no because then you have no clue you've got an ignition/combustion problem.

Good point on the tensioners... the ones on our cars are flat out GARBAGE.
The one on my MM#1 bounced around quite a bit until it began squealing like a pig last winter and was eventually replaced in the early Fall. The one on my 2nd MM doesn't bounce anywhere near what MM#1 did, but last Saturday I noticed a hint of a squeak for a brief moment when I returned to my idling car after a quick run to the store (my family was in the car and it was pretty cold out). Last night, it finally blossomed into the full blown intermittent squeal, which I know will last for several months before becoming a continuous squeal (which means I won't be able to 'prove it' to a dealer mechanic until then, because they have to see it for themselves and even then they'll try to blame the belt).

I noticed between 1800-1900 RPM's a slight Vibration. But wouldnt that be the normal harmonics of a engine making that vibration?
I have had this vibration before and after the pulley swap. Even a Diesel Tractor we have has a slight Vibration at the 900-1000 RPM range.
