I was driving my dads maruader and I put it in reverse and I heard a slight hissing sound coming from the shifter area. Anyone know what this could be.

It means that you should stop messing around with your Dad"s Marauder.
Can't say that I have ever heard a "hisssssss" from the console when I put it in reverse. :dunno: But I would be really careful reaching in to pull out some of his CDs.

I actually started a thread on this about 2 weeks ago. Its a type of valve that releases the Parking brake when you put it in Drive. If you slowly slide up from neutral you can hear it louder
I guess I'm not the only one after all after you people denied hearing this!!!

My ears are 55 years old and have been fine tuned from years of tank gunnery, artillery shells, mortar rounds, HE shots, semi-automatic rifle and machine gun fire. I am telling you that I didn't hear it !!!
I hear the theme to Walker, Texas Ranger....

I think the 300a's have the automatic parking brake release which may hiss slightly when moving the shifter between ranges. '03 b's may or may not have that feature. I believe the '04's do not have auto brake release. As long as it doesn't hiss loudly all the time, it'll probably be okay.
Be careful,

Were you still moving forward at the time when you put it into reverse?
:)
If it isn't the parking brake release (which I don't have on either of my Canadian 300 eh's), it could have been a coincidence of the climate control actuating some of the underdash flaps to change its mode of operation. My MM#1 is close to silent in its climate control operation, but MM#2 makes its actions well known (hisssssss..... thump).
