I was innocently watching Ford's internal broadcast of the "Way Forward" plan, the installment that aired live yesterday, hosted by Anne Stevens.

In the Q&A section, she fielded a question on future performance offerings from Ford, apparently submitted by our own bigslim! Slim, can you confirm?

By the way, I got my first-ever speeding ticket earlier this week ... in my Focus! :mad2:

Sooo...did they shuck and jive on the answer ? I bet they did... I apologize cuz I have had a bitter taste in my mouth since Eleina Ford took the project away from Steve Babcock and killed it...

Well, yes, just a bit of evasion and non-specificity in the answer. The short version would be yes, we'll continue to have performance offerings through SVT. Also, she was counting "off-road Tough Truck" type vehicles as part of the answer to bigslim's question. I don't think that's exactly what he had in mind! :beatnik:

She never answered the question I asked. For those of you that want to know what I asked, this is it:

With the success of Chrysler's SRT program why are we cutting back at SVT? It cannot be too expensive since most of the parts are in house or off the shelf. Are there any plans for a performance sedan at Ford?

Her repsonse was that there will be no reductions in planning at SVT. With the new GT500 Cobra coming, it will be the start of some new products at Ford. Also they are looking at trucks and their potential with performance.

There was "NO" mention of a performance sedan coming from Ford. Also, she said there was no reductions in planning. What about the SVT staff getting cut in half? After hearing this I would have to say don't look for a performance sedan from Ford anytime soon. This was directly from one of the VPs.

I'd have to tell the officer--"wait a few minutes, and I'll be right back and then we can make it legit --I 'll go get my MM and then you can see that I truely deserve this ticket--.....cause it hauls A>>>>.................ok.? I'll be but a second .............."..................

If that happens to me in my 150--I will go home and get my MM and take her for a spin for sure..........

I too got nailed this week in my F150, speed trap, just like two years ago in Altemonte Springs FL, just north of Orlando. That one had a cop on the center divider under a bridge, set up on a tripod, and at least eight motorcycle cops, speed limit drops from 70 to 55 in city limits. BINGO, 73 in a 55. Otherwise, none for about a dozen years.

Bigslim,
I caught the webcast the next day and almost fell off my chair when Anne Stevens mentioned your name.

My take was the same as yours - SVT is not going away, but sedans are not necessarily where the action is.

Thanks for asking.

:beatnik: Ford needs to drop in the Mustang 4.6 3v engine and 5-speed auto. in the CV sport ASAP. This drivetrain sould run 14.6-14.9 in the 1/4 mile with 3.55 gears on 87 octane fuel. But don't hold our breathe for this MM replacement, Ford does not seem to be this brillant. Now if Ford had DCX money they could import the Boss 290 (388 hp) 5.4 4 valve from Austrailia (www.fpv.com.au (http://www.fpv.com.au)) and make this a true SVT product.

How come all the neat Ford products are not available in this country???? I'd go for the GT or GT-P and that Boss 290 would be sweet in an MM.

Thanks Slim!
Ford looses the "concept", when it comes to production cars.
Thier was a concept 49'er at Chicagos' auto show, a couple, 2-3 years ago.
This vehicle captured people, like the New Mustang.
Ford has the capability, they just don't Think, outside the box.

Wasn't there a concept 429?? sedan a few years back? Auto week actually drove it, but not over 20MPH. I too am glad I bought my MM new when I did. This was to replace what my first ride was. A 72 Galaxie 500 2dr hardtop w/a 351w. That was a sweet ride.
