Hoping some of you may have looked at the suspension air pump closely...

last Sunday it was -4 degrees out and the pump gave up leaving me with the light on the dash. Checked all the fuses (not sure how to check the relay)

Now I have the pump out of the car and there are 4 wires going in to the pump and drier assembly. Applied 12v to the red and black and pump sputtered for a moment and quit, I measure 50 ohms across the red and black leads. Blue and green leads show a closed (shorted?) curcuit. I am guessing that this is a solenoid for a valve to bleed the air out of the suspension. I applied compressed air here and it blows straight through so maybe this is what caused the pump to burn out in the cold air.....

Am I on the right track here or should I also look somewhere else to make sure I fix this right the first time....

Not too keen on the whole low rider look..

Have no idea about how to test but in my search for pricing parts for a Marauder before I bought mine, (I like to search for parts just to see what things go for) I came across this site compressor doesnt seem to bad here is a link

Thanks for the link... thats about what I was hoping to pay.. Just want to be kinda sure that I shouldn't be looking for something else while I am at it.

Thinking out loud.....If I see 12 volts coming throught the power lead on the car that connects to the red and black on the compressor when I turn on the ignition then the relays are OK.... I think there is another solenoid/valve back there somewhere but I havent found a diagram or picture of it yet.

Have you checked the switch in the trunk ?

Some members have had things bounce of it
and accidentally switch it to the OFF position...

The Air compressor is powered by the relay which is powered by fuse #114 (30a) in the power distribution box behind the battery. The relay only sends power when the compressor should run (Hot switching.) unlike most other circuits which switch the ground. It is grounded ultimately at the right front fender apron and is listed as ground #102. You are correct about the wires and operation. I think you are correct about the compressor being toast. As I recall, smoked compressors are preceded by leaks in the system. No matter what anybody tells you, replace the drier (accumulator) regardless. (Figure: JMan covers himself in foil for lack of flame suit!) Feel free to pm me if you need more info.

Good luck,
