Yesterday while my son was installing my new front KDW2's (235/50ZR/18) I took the opportunity to check the wear on my rear KDW2's (255/55ZR/18), results.

After 13,500 miles, 14 months, 38 total passes at the track (20 passes with Trilogy blower) I have a uniform across width thread depth of 8/32". New tire has 10/32". The OEM originals were bald in the center at about 18k miles.

After about 200 miles on the new front tires: They are quiet, they transmit more road feel than OEM's, the steering and front end feels more responsive to input, you feel better connected to road...almost like if you did a suspension upgrade. Very pleased with results*.

*These tires are not recommended for use in the snow belt states, it is a Summer rated tire, Florida is rated an endless Summer State.;)

I have the same tires as Smokie front & rear. After over 5000 Miles They still look good and grip better than the stock tires I had on my Marauder. Great tires for the money.

My KDW2s have been on the rear for about 16k or 17k miles, excellent wear all across. The front KDW2s are sitting here in my bedroom waiting installation. I've gotten 30k miles out of the fronts, I could have gotten more if I had the alignment done earlier.

Yes, I know thanks for the look out. But my MM does not see much

Winter driving, and the CV wheels go on her just in case :)

I am sitll happy with the KDW2s, only have a few thousand miles on them so far though. Seem to be wearing evenly near as I can eyeball.

What front/rear size combination do you run with the KDW2 to not set the traction control on a late '03 or '04 model? Might consider these when the time comes, although I am happy with the stock tires so far, but they only have about 12,000 miles on them. And I will be getting the alignment done this spring when the they go back on the car.

235/50zr/18 fronts--255/55zr/18 rears will not set off a traction control light, the 255's are only a 1/2" taller than OEM.

Local tire dealer would not install KDW@ because of the lower V-Rating on the rears. Said it is "way too dangerous." Contacted BFG and they said that they will not authorize the tire dealer to install them since they also believe that a lower speed rating on the rear will get me into big trouble one day.

Needed new tires so I got the OEM. But feedback will help me on my next set.

Next time, just take the wheels to the shop, 2 at a time.

Tell them you use them on a trailer, and all the speed BS should go away.

Gotta love America... a car that can only go 118 mph is unsafe on tires rated for 149... where did our freedom go?

If a story is really neccessary, take your business elsewhere IMHO.

Yeah, he was really worried about you when you are out cruising at 168 mph, he just simply couldn't trust you to keep it under 150 mph.....a dealer with a conscience.

I bought mine through TireRack.com with the install done by a local Goodyear dealer. The only concern he had was that I wasn't buying a GY product ("Ours are MUCH better ya know...").

Go to your L/M dealer and tell him you're not planning on running Talladega.
My L/M will match TireRack prices.

MY door plate for my 2003 calls for 32 front & 32 rear. The door plates for the 2004 call for 34 Front & rear. I run 33 front & 34 rear cold now. I've been thinking of running 35 or 36 Front & rear and most likely will.

Thanks guys, Your mileage is impressive and no doubt reflects your attention to tire pressures and alignment. I appreciate the guidance. Dennis:)

Just a thought: The manufacturer recommended tire pressures are designed to give you the softest most comfortable ride, for those of you that have blowers; remember you have added weight to the front of the car.

I have owned panthers since 1967 and they are heavy cars, 32 psi up front is very comfortable, until you abruptly change lanes at high speed or go around a turn fast; then it feels soft and mushy, not a good feeling.

Just an update, the rears are now at 17,000 miles, Still look new (may look like crap to some).... I don't enjoy changing tires once a year, it increases the chances of someone ruining my rims.

The K2's cost more to buy then the KS, however do the math. If in 3 years you go thru 3 sets of KS or even just 2. The KS tire ends up being more costly by far....since I'm a poor boy...it matters to me.

Yes I know, they look like ricer 4wd truck tires.....but I'm still faster than the pretty OEM's.:D ...:P

Have to agree with that^^^!
Recomended pressures, especially from FoMoCo, are rarely optimal for performance or handling!

I'm using the tire manufacturers recommended pressure. Well close to it. After reading through countless threads on the rears wearing prematurely at Fords recommended 32-34 psi , I'm going with 38-40 psi front and rear. We'll see how it goes.
