I think it is one of those Odds & Ends that was never completed in our Marauders. Owners Manual anyone??

Did anyone find a model number on the unit when they pulled it out? Is this another Ford gem that was made exclusively to their spec, like the Autometer gauges?

It seems to be a standard button on the Ford radios. If you purchase the hands free talk kit from ford parts then the button will have a function otherwise it useless besides being a mute button.

edit: The Marauder does not have the function of Hands free talk kit. I checked the manual and called my buddy at a ford dealership and its just a Mute button on our radio and most of the 2005 and up vehicles allow the use of Ford's Mobile-ease Hands Free System (http://www.fordaccessoriesstore.com/fas/consumer/fas_CONSUMERBrowseCategories.a sp?oid=1905&sOldOid=1901&refer=link). If I need to use my phone, I just put the speaker on and do voice dialing :)

I believe it's a Town Car exclusive... I think you could order an integrated cell phone, and by hitting this button it would mute the stereo and activate the phone. No idea on the details, nor can I remember where I read or saw this...

Edit: interesting that they added bluetooth functionality to this add-on...

That's what I was thinking. I just leave my phone on my belt and put on my bluetooth headset while driving. Much easier just to tap myself upside the head to answer a call than try to get my cellphone off my belt out from under the seat belt buckle.
