Ok, now I know what noise I was suppose to be listening for, because its gone.

I figured that the noise was simply an amplification of road and tire noises through the metco control arms. No, no it was not. The humming, growling noise was the lack of lubrication on my axle bearings. No loud squeals, no grinding, no clanking, just that growling hum was all that it was doing.

As far as the FRP 4:10 gear whine. It may be there, but I can't tell.
YEAH!!!!

Rich,

Glad you got it fixed!!

The degradation of the axles is so slow and the resultant growling increases so slowly you don't even realize it and write it off as a bad tire....Hell I drove my CV around 50K miles with the noise until I got new tires and it was still there.....OOOPS!!!:argue:

They took hand fulls of metal flakes out of my housing....makes you wonder how the gears survived and went on to turn the new axles??

The guy who has it now says it is still fine and he has put another 50K miles on top of the 200K I had on it!! Engine and tranny are still doing good!! GREAT CARS....EVEN AT THEIR WORST!!!!:bows:

Good Luck...Have you ordered a blower yet??
