View Full Version : Probably selling my car

Welp, I'll be starting law school in the fall so I think I'll sell my car.

Reasons: I have been driving since I was 11, racing since I was 14. Started in a 74 Mini cooper with 200bhp. Which is now a mini with 300bhp. I have less sleepless nights over my full race Mini than my Marauder. It makes me sad that I am better at building a car that performance than pros.

Yes I said it I am better, the guys who built the car, owned the car and sold the car are dirt bags, and sold it like you would sell a Lignfelter (sp) as a car needing nothing but to be driven. I don't care who is in love with VT and their work you can take offence all day. They didn't do it right, and I had to end up fixing all their mistakes, I hadn't previously delt with american motors, so I left it to the "experts". My mistake, won't happen again.

So as it is the car is better than when I bought it. The motor is rebuilt, and has been loved and broken in the right way. I've done some little things here and there, and sifted through the forums here and at the corral for interesting little anomalies(sp) I found that didn't seem right to me, all of which turned out to be correct. This car is now what it should of been when I first bought it... so why am I selling?

Well it needs a couple things: New wheels and tires to hold the power better, I dunno where these jokers got the idea for the tires they put on it... and they put nice forged wheels on but they need to be wide in the back... good thing is the back spacing is the same as with stock and they are 9" so... 10" in the back is easy with .5 more space in the back then making stock wider. Also I'd like Lidio to tune her, cuz they tuned the motor, and rebuilt the trans and did the rear end but didn't tune the shift points :(

So you might ask, after all this why sell now when it's so close? I am done, I need to concentrate on law school and I don't need to be irritated. The car is great now, it just irritates me because of what all has happened, and by the fact that the last two things I wanna do I really don't have money to do.

So what does this mean? someone will get to be happy with her, like I would like to be... but you know how it goes, first impressions and all. I'm putting her up for sale at 30K, then I'll start over and do it my way from the start so I know it's done right. I'll prob end up with an SRT-4 or something, seeing as mopar parts are covered under the warrany and it's a cheap little car. I drove one and they are suprisingly nice, and it won't be a burden money wise while I'm in Law School.

That is all

Sorry to hear this news, AJ, but believe me, I understand. 30K sounds about right for a one-of-a-kind magazine car, I wish you well.

You've been a great guy since I came here Mac and have helped me out with my silly questioning. I'll for sure stay around, law school is only 3 years after all, so I hope 100% to have another marauder within a few years :)

I'm just amazed that you were able to build up the car like you did and you are all of just one year older than me. Must be quiet an accomplishment, I must say. Too bad you got to sell it though. You do know that the Dodge Neons are being discontinued this year and are being replaced right? Just thought you should know that. Well good luck with law school. What kind of law do you want to get into? Criminial Justice?

Criminal probably...
I heard that about the SRT-4 I saw a nice white one on auto trader though, 7k miles, warranty, looks like it never got driven. What are they replacing it with? wouldn't happen to know would you?

Dodge Caliber. SRT version looks good if you like FWD. Also will be AWD in 2008.

Sorry to hear about your Marauder. The SRT-4 is nice. Lots of power. My wife has one...one of two turbo cars she owns...the other is an 87 Turbo Regal. You'll like it...plus there's mods for that too. It seems as though everything in SRT's line up is great...except for the replacement to the SRT-4.

agreed, it looks like I'll have to find one with low miles, the replacment is not so good looking. Saw very low miles on auto trader for 18k... might be my next car

Someone is going to be gettin' a sweet ride. I hope you get all that you are asking for. The investment of 3 yrs will allow for much more down the road. Good luck..
