235rwhp and 252ft-lbs. Not to bad at all considering the elevation of 4500ft. 99% stock except for a K&N cone on a MAF adaptor plate.

Pulls were made locked in 2nd gear. Because we couldn't get full RPM in 3rd because I don't have a tuner to adjust the speed limiter. Just for fun I did make a run in 3rd and the graphs were identical to the 2nd gear pulls untill the car cut it off. I'll post the graph later, I don't have time right now

I was going to take my stang to but I checked the oil while she was warming up and there was a ton of coolent on the dipstick. AKA toasted head gasket. Which is fine because I knew they'd blow since they arn't blower friendly. Just glad it happened sooner than later.

My friends 03 Whippled Cobra with 15psi did 549rwhp& 500ft-lbs.

Did they tune the car for you or you just wanted to know what your base numbers were??
Generally out of a SCT tune you can gain at least 20 RWHP

With a PHP airbox, PHP intake spacer, U/D pullies, and mufflers, my base was 262 RWHP & 274 RWTQ and after tuning I pulled 285 RWHP and 308 RWTQ.

Yup. Just wanted to get a base. My tuner isn't here so I had to go without it.

Was it SAE corrected? If so, you don't have to worry about elevation, temperature, air density, humidity, etc. If not, then it'll be a poor number to use as a baseline for future mods, since the atmospheric parameters will change (and depending on any shift of the earth's crust, your elevation might change too).

Its amazing how much power is lost from the flywheel to the wheels

...on these cars. The numbers quoted for drivetrain losses for our MMs is staggering compared to what I've seen for decades. I'm sure the question was asked at some point since I joined here, but I don't recall an answer... what exactly DOES suck up all that power in our drivetrains? Is there anything that can be done to help minimize that loss? ... it'll mean free hp (meaning, hp that's already there waiting to be transmitted to the wheels).

Most modern automatics seem to run in the 15% range, with sticks in the 10-12% range. I think we're quoted in the 20% range.

Edit: some friction-reducing changes were made for the 2004's tranny (4R75W?) so I wonder if the 20% still applies to the 2004 models?

Raises the question if swapping the 4R70W for a 4R75W would make a nice improvement for the 03's?
Also would a bone stock 04 beat out a bone stock 03?

I've sometimes wondered if the engine in our cars was overated, horse power wise. Didn't Ford have a problem with this a few years ago??? My initial pull on a Mustang dyno was low, I believe like 227 RWHP with a Lidio chip, PHP airbox and manifold spacer. Very disappointing and actually embarassing at the time. Can a engine be specifically tuned for high altitude?

My only experience with altitude tuning is when I owned a Quad and the jet kit for the carb was based on what part of the country you lived in. Higher elevations required a smaller jet to compensate for the thinner air.

Ouch, I would have been very embarassed and would have brought my car back to the dealer wondering where all the power went

Before those mods you probably only had 200 RWHP which is sad for a engine boasting 302HP

Not yet. ;)

edit: my favorite hp "guesswork" equations all supported that my engine was indeed making 302 hp if not a little more in that cold night air. So I would be inclined to think our motors are not overrated (unless I happened to have gotten a "good" one... there's a scary thought... *shudder*)

Yup it is SAE corrected

I think the figures are in line with the average around here of 240rhp/258rtq. If you ever go to the track and run 15 to 15.3. sec. you are at average.:)

Hah no way i'd run low 15's up here. I'm willing to bet the car is in high 15's low 16's. The altitude up here is a killer on N/A cars. My car can't even Churp the tires from the hole or even do a brake stand burnout.

I do, altitude SUCKS might as well find some humor in it.
