Tonight, when I went to shift the car out of park the button on the shifter would not depress to shift. I thought it was maybe cause the brake was not engaged all the way, but that was not the case. I finally had to press on the button hard to get it to move out of park. This is the first time it has happened. There is no problem pressing the button to shift out pf any other gear. I wanted to check and see if anyone else has had this problem before I take the car in to get checked.

Could it be the same problem I had, a blown brake light fuse?

Were you parked on an incline?

That was my first thought ... that the car had rolled forward just enough to put pressure on the gears and make the shift difficult. Also happens if the steering wheel is turned and wedged in a locked position. Used to see it on my '94 Thunderbird frequently. Haven't seen it on the MM yet ... but I am conscious of the problem so I avoid the causes. :D

Turns out it was the brake light fuse, it was blown. Took it in to the dealer after work today and they fixed it for me under the extended warranty. Even washed the car for me. Thanks for the help.
