ok here is the deal, i have made a nice friend who wants to use my car as a ginnypig for marauder parts. He wants to make it twin turbo and i talked him into doing it for free plus if there is any problems he would pay for repair lol. Well i asked about the hood and he said he could do it. Price is high in my mind but im not sure what you all are looking for. Fiberglass finished product will run around $1200(i can prolly get it down some). If your interested just say so, he does very good work.

Is that the whole hood in fiberglass, or just the scoops added to an existing hood?

In principle I am interested. Would need a lot more information before I would commit tho!
I would be interested as well. Like others, would need way more details first.

At $1200 I would pass no matter how much I liked that hood. Yes I understand the limited supply run would yield to a higher cost but $1200 is a little rich for my taste. I would most likely go for the add on hood scoops if Zack could get them to look like they weren't "put" on. No what I mean Vern???

At the Spring Break Shootout in Orlando this past weekend they were selling the same hoods we have been looking at here in Fiber Glass, unpainted, about 6 different configurations, to fit Mustangs of course; in the 2 to 3 hundred dollar range unpainted. They have no intention to produce them to fit our cars at this time. Of course they sold a truck load of them to the Stang guys. A lot of the cars there had them finished and installed from previous purchases and no question they look great. Dennis:beer:

This is the photoshop I did of the Cervini Stalker kit on a Marauder back in October of 2005.
Do you have any samples of the guys work that your talking about?
Champion Fiberglass offers a lift-off version of this Mustangs hood for $190.00 shipping cost are extra. This would be the hood I would use to cut up and bond to a Marauder/Crown Vic, because the Cervini one would be very expensive to hack up.

$800 max for a custom hood. $1200 is insane.

The first of anything on these cars is going to be expensive. Even an aftermarket scoop mounted and painted on an existing hood, done top notch would be + or - $1500. If these things could be knocked out for $800 some vendor would have done it already. People here always want something but don't want to pay for it. Being the pioneer cost $$. Ask any supporting vendor, no one is getting rich on creating things for our cars. Hopefully Jerry will come through, but he would be sticking his neck out, I'm sure. Bottom line, if you like something and want something, GET IT.
My two cents...
$800 max for a custom hood. $1200 is insane.
Just as a FYI...
I talked with one company about making a run of hoods back about 6 months ago.
The initial tool up fee was going to be around $10,000 and that didnt even pay for hoods... Each hood was going to be around $800-$900 each. So the $10,000 you are putting up for their research. But if they arent planning on doing it but someone wants to pay for it to be done, it costs....!!!!!!

Hello
My name is Doug and I own Champion Fiberglass Products. I was approached this past weekend by one of your members at the World Ford Challenge about manufacturing hoods for your cars. I sell most of my hoods from $170.00 for a pin on to $350.00 for my most expensive hood. What would bring me to make this hood would be the amount of interest in it. If concerned about my quality please view my feedback on E-bay http://feedback.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewFeedback&userid=championfg&ssPageNDame=STRK:ME:UFS (http://feedback.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewFeedback&userid=championfg&ssPageNDame=STRK:ME:UFS)
If had a commitment for 40 hoods I would eat the cost of the mold.
You can reach me at my web site at www.championfiberglassproducts .com (http://www.championfiberglassproducts .com/)

A custom hood for $500 would be decent, but that hood in the picture is a rice grinder hood. We need a hood that gives the car some muscle car look. Like a cowl hood, maybe 2" just not to high. Or a teardrop like the thunderbolt, or ram air like a cobra torino or mustang. What about the shaker set-up I think that would be cool and not be too crazy looking. I think clean lines and a stealth look should be retained. Just my opinion>:D

I have this law to consider in VA
§ 46.2-1088.1. Hood scoops.
No motor vehicle shall be operated on a public highway in the Commonwealth if any hood scoop installed thereon exceeds any of the following dimensions:
1. For any hood scoop installed on any motor vehicle manufactured for the 1990 or earlier model year: thirty-eight inches wide at its widest point, two and one-quarter inches high at its highest point measured from the junction of the dashboard and the windshield, and fifty-two and one-quarter inches long at its longest point.
2. For any hood scoop installed on any motor vehicle manufactured for the 1991 or subsequent model year: thirty-eight inches wide at its widest point, one and one-eighth inches high at its highest point measured from the junction of the dashboard and the windshield, and fifty and one-half inches long at its longest point.

We would need to create a poll to find out what would be the most popular hood to create first. Someone can create photoshop pics (or reuse my old ones) to give a rough idea of what the hood would look like.
Remember we dont want to scare this guy off, lets get one style hood made first and then see where it goes from there. :)

Here's a question for you, can you alter your 99-04 Super Mach 1 hood,
http://www.championfiberglassproducts .com/images/hoods2page/9904supermach.jpg
So it fits the lines of the Marauder/Crown Vic better, like this photoshoped image??? Or does the distance between the scoops have to remain the same?

I know I've posted some pics up of hoods like these before and stirred up intrest with the Heat Extractor Hood and Cobra R Cowl with Louver. Personally I think the Heat Extractor Hood would be the best of both worlds for looks and functionality. I just think the scoops take away from the smooth curves and streamline look the car already has, but any hood on an MM would turn heads regardless. The heat extractor hood will help keep the overall clean look of the MM and help cooling, now the cobra r cowl hood would add the nice increase touch of muscle and meaness to the MM. just me 2cents

Please remember that we need to pick a style hood that Champion Fiberglass Products (http://www.championfiberglassproducts .com/) already makes for another car in order to keep this project alive and keep cost down.
We need to find a way to narrow down our choices and then post a poll to make the final decision.
Please make sure to post this information in other Crown Vic/Marauder/Marquis forums, because we need about 40 orders to make this happen in the mid to high 300 dollar range.
And if all goes well maybe Doug will consider creating other style hoods for us in the future.
Let's not let this opportunity slip away.

I'm interested.
My design preferences would be ability to use stock hinges and lock (direct swap), the center part between the heads elevated somewhat to help clear supercharged cars and some cushion, a performing heat extractor , near stock cars lines design to attrack the most (i guess) possible customers and significant weight reduction over stock steelies.
But if the price would be right in line with other popular model cars, i guess again that some of our most difficult potential customers (including me) would be willing to cut and paste the center part to fit our particular usage and/or taste; be it air scoop or heat extractor). The challenge is really getting a design that fit a lot of customers. Not an easy task but doable if we're ready to make some personal ajustments. :)
About 2 month ago, i tried to fit a 1995 GM all aluminum hood without success and i still have it in the throat !! Too bad because the hinges and width were pretty much perfect fit. The weight difference was awesome. I stopped it because i realized it would be way too much work and $$ to be satisfying.

I think the Super Stallion hood would be a great pick.
It looks a lot like the Super Mach 1 hood and is spaced wide enough
to fit the Marauder hood nicely.
One thing we need to be wary of is hood depth.
To make a hood with heat extraction vents would decrease under hood area.
This can be detrimental to a SC'd Marauder where hood clearance is a BIG issue.
