As some may know, I had the Ford Racing 4:10's insatlled last week. There we discovered my car was indeed a member of the )3-05-05 TSB club. Having bought the extended warranty, it was takne care of for the $100.00 deductable.

Let me tell you I am extremely pleased with the results of the gear change. My driveway has some rubberized protection now.

I finally had the chance on Saturday to get the car in the 75+ mph range safely.
The vibration was inhuman! Could not even see out the rearview. I backed off and pondered the ponderment. I searched the forum. I agonized over the costs I may be looking at.

I took the driveshaft out and took it to the place that did the gears. Family owne dshop, lives 1/4 mile away from me, and does excellent work. And he's a Ford Freak!

As soon as he saw the shaft, he said ... "Oh no". Yeah that was encouraging.
He ponted out the two large weights on each yoke, and they were on the same side! It seems that the tube is straight, but the yokes were welded in on angles. If the shaft was in front of you, laing flat, the yokes are turned in towards you so the imbalance is all on the same side. He'd do what he could....

I picked up the shaft, he told me he did his best, but, a new shaft was in order to be perfect. I was instructed to install it 180 degress from wheer it was.

well, it was installed by me last night and test driven. Got past 90 and the vibration is about 90% of what it was, when I hit 90. I spent $50 to have it looked at and worked on a bit, and that fifty was well spent.

I've done 2 things now, 1st I ordered a Metco driveshaft loop from Dennis Reinhart. 2nd, I found a 2000 CVPI driveshaft for $100.00 that I'm picking up to day to have Gerry work on. If it does not have two big as$ weights on the same side of the shaft.

I'll let you all know....

What is funny when I got my gears changed, the vibes come on at 80 and go away almost completely at 85. The Only thing I feel after that is feedback from the road. If it is smooth, 90 is good, 95 is good, 100 is good. The only thing I hate is when ou punch it at 75 it will pull hard to 100 and then change gears. TO keep the hard pull on you have to turn the OD off.

Ok, It looks good, a 1/2 x 1 inch weight only on the front end. Good.
Now, will I need to have the stock dampner yoke installed or can we just use the one on this shaft with new joints?
