View Full Version : ...Just traded mine too

Well,.. I pick up my new wheels tomorrow. I hate to trade my baby in,.. but the time has come my reasons are very similar to Dan's.

Not too mention the fact, my wife is pregnant with our 2nd child. The Marauder has plenty of room but, not quite enough for 2 adults,2 babies, and all the crap we end up hauling around for them.

On a related note,... I'll be adding the following to the Classified section soon:
-upper/lower intake
-polished MM wheel
-Autometer Cobalt Electric Full-Sweep Oil Pressure & Voltmeter gauges and dual A-pillar pod,.. All never installed.

I thought I'd follow Dan's fine example and offer a prize to the 1st person that guesses what I bought.

Here's a few hints:
It's Dark Blue Pearl
U.S. Made
Weighs more than the Marauder.

What's the prize?

The last set of never used Marauder fender badges! :D

An H3 hummer? I'd think a Marauder can handle 2 kids. I've hauled 2 adults and 2 kids + me around showing homes, All their crap usually fits in the trunk nicely. Except when the little bastards either get food in the car, shoe prints on the back of the seats and finger prints all over the glass.

My guess is the Mariner. Not a Marauder, but a good kid hauler.

My kids (4 & 9) love the Marauder. "Faster daddy, faster!!" I guess it's in their blood.

Whatever you drive now, congratulations!!! Stay in touch.

Not an Expy or a Navigator. There currently no DPB in the line up and I haven't seen any '07 DPB come down the line yet. My guess would be the 'Xploder.

That would be my guess, too !!! A Lincoln Aviator in Dark Blue Pearl.

Sorry that you a getting rid of your MM, Tom but I understand the "kids and stuff" rationale. The exact same thing pushed me into the van set many moons ago.

Good luck with your new ride ..... whatever it is !!

First time I've ever heard of anyone getting rid of the Marauder for lack of interior room.

Kid #2 is shown here sitting in the middle spot beside kid #1. Until we swapped to the forward facing seat, my wife had plenty of room in the remaining spot.

Yeah, I know. The Aviator will not be modded. :o A big reason why I'm letting the MM go is, I've been putting too much time and money into it. It's been waaaay too high on my priority list,.. and like Dan. I'm quite paranoid about it getting dinged, or otherwise damaged.

The Aviator is gonna be Momma's car, for all intents and purposes. She says no mods,... :nono:

Traded in the Marauder, but kept the engine!

The Aviator was about the coolest SUV made in awhile!

Just the right size and plenty of balls.

Tom, I understand your decision, your choice sounds solid to me. When my three sons were children the family vehicle was a 1986 Dodge Caravan, served us for 10 years.

Now that my children are grown men....time for Papi to have some fun with his Marauder........:D Keep in touch, there is no place quite like this.:)

Tom, it's the ultimate chick mobile. Barb put 50K on her '03 then traded for an '05 before they were all gone ....forever. It's gonna suck gas up until about 15k and then will be in the 18 ~ 20 range. The '05 with just over 8K is in the 15 ~ 16 range now. I hate to admit this to you guys, but I prefer the Aviator to the MM on our trips to Ohio.

Mrs. Tom is gonna love her Aviator, just ask Jessica what she thinks of hers. The bun warmer/coolers are wonderful. BTW, the prices they're whoring the Aviators for these days, IMHO makes them the best deal out there. Barb's first one was Mineral Gray and this one is Dark Charcoal. YOU DONE GOOD!:D

Avoid giving in to the urge to go look at your trade, especially if you have to go to the dealer in the next few days for something. Trust me.

As clean as your MM was, somebody's gonna buy a heckuva great car.

Tom didn't you have cool looking blue cam covers?....I assume that they stayed on the MM for trade-in?
If they weren't such a 'beeatch' to pull off they would have gone well on the Aviator.
How much 'mod' stuff did you leave on the MM?

Doesn't the Aviator have one of those big plastic "covers" over the entire engine so people don't have to look at that nasty ole 4.6L ? ;) Seems to be a trend in the auto industry to cover up the working parts so that non-enthusiasts won't be offended when they open the hood.

Yup,.. They were blue. I left 'em of course. ..and as you stated, major PITA to switch! You are right, they would've looked sweet on my truck.

They only mods I left besides the blue V/C's were:
-Addco rear sway bar (also blue)
-PHP intake spacer
-underdrive pullies

One door closes and another one opens.

Wouldn't have my MM if the previous owner didn't have to "right-size" to a Mountaineer.

I'm starting my family this year. The MM purchase was an unexpected convergence of a decent trade-in; plus me wanting to sneak in a car I really wanted before buckling down.

So far, looks like plenty of room. Only requisite my wife laid on me in my search was the vehicle has to be able to handle a baby seat. From all the anchors on the back deck, looks like I'm good...

From what I understand, the MM and Aviator engines are very similar. Curb weight on the Aviator is 400-500 lbs more than a Marauder. What did they do to the Aviator engine to make it giddy-up? (ie. Marauder got the high stall converter and 3.55s, etc.)

Bradley G

I read the cams are more agressive, for additional torque.

Gears, cams have a different profile and the lower/upper intakes are completely different to optimize low end torque. Other than that, exact same motor... and the pulley config is different.. But other than THAT... :)
