I'm looking into getting an intake for my '03 and does anyone have any recommendations? JLT, K&N?

I like my K&N, had it for a year now. Look is great, sound is fantastic. Very solid...not flimsy, does not move around or flop around at all, and does not contact the hood liner. A great buy IMO.

Now why would you bring up these points... hmmmMMM?

I agree, if I was going to get one, the K&N is the way to go! I personally, am going to be making my own custom one out of Carbon Fiber. I know BigSlim is interested in one (once I finally make the derned thing).

Hey folks,
Anyone have the dimensions of the K&N used on the Marauder? I still have the K&N from the 4.0 Exploder, and its a pretty beefy unit. Would be easy to adapt as long as it has the requisite surface area. Anyone have the dims?

I second this....I was looking for something that looked and fit great....I found it in the JLT intake....Fits great, doesn't move, and the sound is kick a$$.:drive:

I hope you aren't counting that little blower thingy as part of your prefered intake. :)
It would be my preference, too, but for the $8,000.00 price tag.

I was impressed with the PHP/Metco combo from Reinhart when I installed it on SlowPoke's MM. Nice clean fit, and the faux carbon fiber has a lot of visual appeal. My other choice would be the K&N kit.

The K&N fits and works fine here. There are others out there as well. It's just the one I went with.

I have the PHP Airbox and I like the metal lid that protects the filter from heat.
I never had a issue with it rubbing.

JLT is cheapest and sounds best IMO. I made an 'L' bracket to go from the stock airbox mount to the MAF adapter so no movement. I also like to be different. Everybody and their brother has K&N. (I know, I know, cuz they're the best. Blah, blah, blah... I disagree, they do, however have the best MARKETING and that's why JLT costs 1/2 as much!!!!)

I'll get off my :soap: now.

I also have the JLT and am real happy with it. I made a little "L" bracket for mine, too. Took about 15 minutes.

I've had both, but I only bought the JLT because I didn't have enough money for the K&N at first (which I bought on eBay later for an awesome price), and I definately prefer the K&N. Much better fit and finish, IMHO, plus I think it sounds a little better. However, the JLT is still dutifully performing it's function on my brother's 1990 Olds Delta 88..... I know, we're idiots, but hey, it was good for a laugh, and it still works well....

I don't have a pic. May try to take one later.

I got a 3" U bolt from a hardware store. The flat part that has 2 slot holes that goes after the nuts is the bracket. I bent it 90 degree in the vise on one end just past the slot. the I bent it about 15 degrees the other way on the other end in about the same place. It slightly looks like an 's'. I used the leftover nuts from my Pro-Guard to tighten the 90 degree end down on the lowest most inboard rubber iso-mount from the factory airbox since it's the same threads. On the intake side, the lower driver side MAF adapter bolt is long enough to put the bracket under it and retighten.

Really no big deal at all, but very effective.

If you want, I could make you one. Only takes me about 5 minutes.

This is what I used as well from Dennis. On my car had to work around a problem as the metco bell was a bit too short to connect from the tube to the PHP box, but put it in the middle of both and secured it at the tube and it has been working great.

Very nice look but a bit pricy I guess. The PHP kit uses the big 9" S&B filter that is also used on the JLT. I have the CF radiator cover as well and they look good together. The box is an easy install and totally rock solid.
