autolock won't disable

am i doing it right? key off, door closed and locked, go outside use key pad, enter code then press 7/8 then press 3/4 then release 7/8, then release 3/4. door seems to make locks move as confirmation, but then every time i put it in drive the damn doors lock again. i'm going insane with this.

This is the procedure in the shop manual.


Autolock and Horn Chirp Programming Printable View (8 KB)
NOTE: This procedure must be completed within 30 seconds.

Turn the ignition switch to RUN.
Press the UNLOCK button three times.
Turn the ignition switch OFF.
Press the UNLOCK button three times.
Turn the ignition switch to RUN. The doors will lock and unlock to confirm entry into program mode.
Press the UNLOCK button once to toggle the autolock feature on or off, or twice to toggle the horn chirp function on or off. The door will lock and unlock to confirm toggling of the autolock and horn chirp feature.
Exit program mode by turning the ignition to OFF or START.

Is this with the key fob or with the door's lock/unlock switch? Thanks for the info.

I didn't know you COULD disable the auto-lock...not sure why anyone wants to...

What horn chirp? When?

There is a horn chirp when you lock the car with the keyfob.
You can program it off if it annoys you. I turned mine off.
