Does anyone here actually call them when you see a reckless driver? Most drivers I see that do something really stupid take it in stride and seem to pause, realizing they almost caused a wreck. But driving on 95 north on sat. I saw a new red 3 series that was weaving in and out probably doing close to 100 in pretty good traffic. She nearly clipped a semi and a minivan in just one of her many insane manuevers. I called *FHP for the first time, I'm truly amazed that I did not see this bimmer smeared across the highway during my trip up. She passed everyone as if they where in Reverse. I had been with some friends in a Harley truck, coming back from a dyno day and on of my friends called. But that was because a Ram was trying to run us off the road for no reason, the guys eyes were blood shot and he was paying more attention to looking and screaming at us then he was to the road. So anyone else have any experiences with calling *FHP or something like that?

I have done that here in San Antonio, but for a drunk driver.....I was driving home from work and noticed a guy driving about 10 miles an hour on an road where the speed limit is 45. Just out of curiosity I turned around and followed him, When he got to the highway access road he turned going the wrong way and I followed from across the highway....I was already on the phone to the police when some one else in a tahoe joined the cause to get this drunk driver off the road.....to make a long story short I was on the phone with the dispatcher for about 10 min before he decied to get on the highway...well me and the Tahoe teamed up and forced him to pull over and waited till the police arrived and took him into cust ody...we had to go on the wrong side as well to pull him over but never made any physical contact with him or his car....I am just glad we did not let him get on the highway goingthe wrong direction....after speaking with the officers...they told me that they could not follow him going aginst traffic that they would have to wait till he either got going the right way, stops, or crashes. But it worked out and the went to the Bexar Count Cooler.

Did it years ago due to a very messed up truck driver. On my way back past where FHP stopped him, I saw them slap on the cuffs. Something was definately wrong.

I hated messin' with someone's livlihood, but he was REALLY being dangerous.

Just 2 weeks ago I was on the Turnpike and saw a chevy caprise doing about 110 mph. I got on his A$$ and got the tag #. I called *fhp and the phone rang 35 times and then said that the call could not be completed as dialed. I was amazed and called again. At first I thought I had dialed the wrong # but I have it stored in my phone memory, and I have used it b4 and they have answered. Anyway They never even picked up the phone and the Ahole ended up getting off the Turnpike. I kept on the Turnpike and 1 or 2 miles up the road there were 2 FHP units doing a Speed Trap.....:mad2: GRRRRRR If only that guy had not gotten off the exit he would have been nailed and I would have loved every second watching them light him up.

Have done it (911) for DRUNKS, but never for someone going fast, and I never will. I'm always suprised at how many guys get angry when someone is going faster than they are. (Jealousy).

Just because someone is going at a faster rate than you (or I) like, is not a reason to call the Hwy Patrol. Someday you may be going faster than the "Little Old Lady" that you just passed, and she will report you. If you think he is unsafe, someone else may (or will) think you are unsafe.

Anyone wants to go faster than me, well god speed to them. JMHO.

BTW, It is my understanding that the Hwy Patrol is not going to issue a ticket on your word only. They have to clock him themselves. Also the Hwy Patrol has better things to do with their time than to try to find a guy who is going much faster than the limit. Finding a drunk is different, as long as someone is following the drunk reporting his location every minute or so. Who is going to follow a guy going well above the limit, reporting his location, unless you yourself also go that speed.

No, I just leave it be. I'm not jealous of them.

The driver was driving aggressive and was all over the road. Thats why I called, I didnt call because someone was driving faster than me. Many people drive faster than me and I dont say a word, in fact I couldnt care less but when you drive like an A$$ and endanger everyone else around you its a different story. FHP doesnt have to clock him. As long as they see him driving erratic, thats all the PC they need to light him up.I know that thay are busy with a lot of other more important issues but I just wanted to give them a description of the car, Tag# and location so it would be a little easier to nail the S.O.B.

Jealous, over what? I won't call for someone speeding, that is not why I called for this person. It was their maneuvers and lack of respect for the safety of the other drivers on the road that made me feel like I should call and report them. I do not doubt that I had the power or ability to catch up to her to get her license plate #. However doing so would require me to drive in a manner that would put the other motorists are risk even further and I have no right to do that.

What are you going to do/say when someone calls and reports YOU?????????

(Honest officer, I have no idea why anyone would report me, as I was within the speed limit, but perhaps they did not like the car I am driving, or don't like the way I part my hair).

It could happen to you!
