What is the difference between the Cobra Manifolds w/ the DR Exhaust and the Stock MM Manifolds? (other than being powder coated)

In a simple answer: they flow better than the MM ones.

The manifolds themselves are "d" shaped to match the exhaust ports of the 4V Cobra head. Add to that 2.5" OD exhaust pipe with matching high flow cats and X pipe, and you have a Dennis Reinhart Cobra exhaust kit that replaces everything up to the OEM muffler, or, what ever you have in place. BTW, you retain all four 02 sensors as well.

Way back when we all were concerned about voiding our warranty, it was very stealth too. Most wrenches didn't notice it at all, because they knew little about the Marauder from the factory. However, it's power production was remarkable and competitive with options, and warranty aside, it surely has a bang for the buck factor going on today.

OK, so the Factory MM Manifolds do not match the Heads?

I think you didn't understand the statement clearly. The Cobra 4v head in 03/04 has a D shaped exhaust port. The Cobra 01 has an oval shape, meaning they don’t work. The Marauder has the exact D shape exhaust size and as the 03/04 cobra.

Here's a pic of two Marauder heads. The one on your left shows the intake ports, the right shows the exhaust ports. I didn't coin the phrase "D shaped" but they resemble that...In a way...I suppose...

I think I am following....

Are the Stock MM Manifolds D-Shaped, or Oval?

The stock Marauder Manifolds are D-Shaped

So now we got the shape cleared see my first post.

I'm swapping mine out right now. There is a big difference between the two manifold styles.

What I mean is the shape and size. The cobras are deeper and a bit wider. The ports are the same. I did a simple gasket match to open up the cobras more. No ceramic coating for me.

IMHO, the ceramic coating on the DR Cobra manifolds pushes the heat of the exhaust down stream which helps light off the cats, keeps the engine bay cooler, and more efficent scavenging of gases. Also no heat soak in the starter.

So what's the way to distinguish these Cobra manifolds from the outside?

In their stock configuration... the Cobra manifolds normally have a Mustang Cobra wrapped around them....

Sorry I just couldn't resist!

I think the ceramic coating als keeps the heat in the manifold which help scavange the exhaust better.

Uh--they look different then the stock manifold.
